Due to circumstances beyond my control, I was forced off the internet on 12 Sep '09 by ATT/Yahoo. During that week, my computer was hacked by unknowns and I received over 30,000 e mails in a two day period. These emails were from various postmasters around the world sending me undeliverable mail supposedly originated by me on my email account. I called ATT and complained but they said it was out of their control. I am back up with a very slow dialup with Netzero.net temporarily until I get my new ISP and DSL from my old NetDot.Com. They are waiting until ATT unblocks my land line. In the meantime, I can not download any files but I can receive and send email. My new address is: jesse_34@netzero.net. Jesse

It does puzzle me how my computer got hacked because I am using one of the best security programs on the market. I have Computer Associates CA Internet Security Suite Plus 2009. It has just about every thing a person could want. I guess it can happen...look at the old Forum.

I'm using McAfee, and my computer went down just a few months ago...

Hi Jesse
Sorry to read about your woes
You might want to edit your email to say AT and Dot to save it being picked up by a roving bot

Jesse, pardon a noob butting in (love your work by the way),
A while ago I contracted a computer virus - bad times.
I was googling the error message I got on start up and stumbled across bleepingcomputer.com. I joined the forum and they assigned a case manager to me.
Under instruction I downloaded a program which diagnosed for them which viruses (virii?) I had.
I had three individual viruses. Seems misery loves company.
Over the next few nights they sent me programs which gradually eliminated my viruses, then gave me tips on improving my security.
I thought I had good firewall/virus/spamware protection. Boy did they open my eyes!
Cost to me - nil. They didn't want a donation either.
Have you used your credit card to buy stuff from the computer that was hacked?

Talbot, I use my AOPA Master Card on the computer but I don't use the card number. Bank of America has a single use purchase number that they assign for each individual purchase. It is never used more than once.
