I downloaded the " dwai_c97.zip" file from Avsim and enjoy it very much except for the fact that the boom drops down immediately upon takeoff, around 300 ft. altitude. I can't find the author of the plane listed anywhere. Can anyone think of a work around for this ?

Hi, Glad you're enjoying it. No, there is no workaround for this. There are very few animation variables available for AI aircraft, unfortunately. When the gear goes up, the boom comes down. Sorry,

I was afraid of that. Thanks Tom.

Sorry, I'm speaking like a man with a paper hat....would it be possible to cross reference the boom action to say for example, the 'tail hook' feature. Instead of dropping a tail hook or raising it, apply that to the boom. Jesse

Hi Jessey, i forgot to mention that it is being used as AI. I can't control anything.

Jesse, as an AI aircraft, the tail-hook animation isn't used. Tom is correct in what he wrote about AI aircraft animation. We only have flight controls, flaps and landing gear variables to work with. Using the landing gear (actually, its the nose gear in this case) was the best I could think of. I hope that explanation helps. Dee

Thanks, Dee. I had overlooked his comments on using it as an ai aircraft. Maybe someday in the future, we will be able to implement all the actions on an ai bird. Jesse

I presume the solution lies in the MDL. Wish I knew more about it.

Actually the solution lies with MS. They need to expand the number of animation variables the AI aircraft can display...
