These are some screen captures of the restored DC-7B being done in Eastern Airlines livery by the Historical Flight Foundation in Miami. Tom did a revised model for me that allows some different texture application on the nose...thats about the only way to create the Eastern Airlines star pattern. Will be released with the special model pretty soon Im sure. My work is pretty much done. This little girl was a little bit of a challenge because this restored DC-7 has a number of differences in her replica paint that differ from period aircraft. I had to rework my former repaint to accommodate. The good thing is that I did that old girl about 4 years ago, and my skills have improved since then! There are lots and lots of little tweaks and improvements. Eric

Don't tell anyone....but I might have to park the Connie for this one. At least for a flight or two. Brilliant work.

Superb Paint Eric! A quick question..does tht new model solve the tiny patch of unpaintable nose on the tip? Just curious. I'm going to be redoing the Delta birds shortly.

I dont recall. Its available at flightsim.com this morning to download and test if you want. However the model now projects the skins for the nose area around the cylinder like the engine nacelles do. Works great in this application.

Hi,
Yes it does. But as Eric says the nose is mapped as a cylinder, so lining up any stripes, etc. with the rest of the fuselage would be a real pain.

Thanks Pung. Just as a side note, Tom and I discussed adding a green panel for this HFF Eastern Air Lines DC-7B since thats whats in the real aircraft today, but timing and research made that a secondary issue, not to mention the install details. I have been playing with this now and this is very much just "beta" and not sharable yet. However, in due course will create an addon so that this DC7B can have the accurate green cockpit thats in the real bird. Daytime 2D cockpit looking north from KORD Same 2D cockpit and line up with night lighting turned on. A view from the copilots VC viewppoint. Night lighting in VC is very nice with this green panel, though this is mainly due to the really great L.bmp files associated with the dc7pnlKMCC base panel necessary. I have this structured so that you can have gray panels in some aircraft and green in others. Eric
