Hello Stefan: It worked The sound are present now I did as you adviced. knowing the the view points might change. In the 2D panel I have the L1049G panel, the green panel. In v/c I have the starliners' with the speedbrake handle. Any way as you say we did this only to test the sound. The safety sounds(Dings) are now present. I attempted remaming again to get the Starliners 2D panel back...Sounds stopped working. So I renamed them again as you intructed, to get them so the sounds work. By conclusion,to me there's a conflict in the panel.Which wasn't there before...All my mishapps with the McAfee Bug and formatting I had to do to save my computer. This sounds use to work well in my old sys.Vista and XP-SP3 on my old vista OS. Now I have win7 Ultimate and FSX Gold/Accel. Bernardo

OK .... now I would try re-downloading the L-1649A 2.2 and after unzipping the files to a temporary location try this panel folder complete with all it's sub-folders and cab files.

Hello Stefan: Thanks for your reply and advice...I did as you adviced... Downloaded a new L-1649A V2.2 form avsim.com unzipped to a temp Copied this new panel folder to the L-1649A V2.2 in my FSX Installation... ...But...No safety dings sound from the switches; Only the clicks. All other sounds voices,a/p disconnect,Squeking Brakes etc...are present. Not even after adding Diegos'r.3350 engine sound; Which I presume don't have anything to do with it...Because I also have this sound in the "G"... Went back to check my L1049G folders and they are now exactly the same as I have them in the Starliner. Even after not having been succesfull I coppied all the files and folders again to the L-1649A panel folder...But got the same result This is weird...Tried again a little later,Being very caeful this time. I checked that the gauge is present in the panel.cfg: gauge38=L1649A! Call_sign VC gauge38=L1049G!Call_SignVC, 678,452,100,18 exactly as the onein the "G" exept the G has the OXY Valve entries...And if the problem is in the .cab files? I'm lost? ALSO HAVING THE SAME ISSUE WITH THE L-749_1 and athe L_749_0 I have had this saved in a temp folder in my computer; Sound files are the same as the L-1649A and the L_1949 G

The Call Sign is just the simple placard in the center of the panel with the actual airplane tail number.... that does not affect the sounds at all.
I am afraid I don't have any more ideas at the moment.

Stefan: Thanks for the explanation. I misstook this call this call...For the cabin call sound. I appreciate very much all your aadvice and attempts at helping me with this little issue...
It's stil strange though? I hope it has nothing to do with win7; Though I doubt it since they do work in the L1049 G and when I open thrt sound folder containing this sound it gives out the sound, once the media player window opens?

Hi Bernardo, I don't think it is Win7 .... since I have no issues at all with it in FS9 using W7. The problem seems to be only FSX related. I will have to take another look at this on my rig and actually check if they work on mine in FSX. Anybody else using FSX having this issue Stefan

Glad to see you are still around Stefan: Just to recap. I have had the sounds working on all connies in this computer, which OS I don't remember after all my formatting I've had to do since McAfee Bug hit me. I installed today the cv240..Took me while to understand the installtion method of it...But got it working in the ned. The safety sounds in this one work; As well as the squeking brakes.
Have checked my sound folders again. I have SP_1649A folder in my sound folder as a subfolder...Also have it in the airplane L1649A folder. I've tried removing this folder from the airplanes' folder in case there was a conflict. All I got was no sound at all, except for the calls,a/p disengage,clicks...NO engine sounds.Even though the sounds folder is identical to that of the L1049G.

Hi Bernardo,
this particular gauge for the No-Smoking and Seatbelt signs is coded directly into the model. So it is different from any of the other ones.
The SP_L1649A folder only needs to be there once...in the main FSX\sound folder. If you don't get any engine sounds that has nothing to do with that particular sound. That is controlled only by the single file that must be present in the airplanes dedicated sound folder which is the sound.cfg.
If you only have a sound.cfg file this usually points to a different location where the engine, flight and touchdown sounds for example are found. This is done via that alias line Manfred pointed to in an earlier post.
OR you can have a sound.cfg and all engine, flight and touchdown sounds in that folder....which this cfg file then starts or runs at the right moments.
What is strange is that the sounds play with the panel folder from the 1049 but not with the 1649....or you say the 749s. Since the 1649 was the first one in the series the other airplanes simply build on that foundation.....and we only changed what needed to be changed to fit the aircraft.....those sounds and gauges as far as I know were not changed.
Let's try one more thing.....
In that SP_L1649A folder you have the sound file that should play for the cabin sounds.....can't remember now what that file is called. Let's say cabin.wav
Then there are 2 files called switch or click.... which produces the sound of the click you do hear.
1. Rename the cabin.wav to cabin_org.wav 2. Rename one of the switch or click files to cabin.wav
Reload the airplane and try the switches.....if the system can find the sound file in the folder you should now hear the chime sound but not the click....and because that wav file is also used on all other toggle switches you will get it for every switch.
I am beginning to think that for some reason the first wave file for the click is still playing...even though it should be done and the second one for the chime never does get called up.

Good morning Stefan; Thansk for your reply: I have done as you suggest. Didn't work. I renamed the cabin sound .wav to cabin_org.wav and the buttom. When I reloaded the L1649 the buttom.wav was still auduable and in the safet only the click was audiable no chime..
But when I call the cabin sound form the SP_1649A folder in my airplane folder they sound. Also on the L749_0.
Juat tried a brand new download, same results!?
Perplexed?
Thanks: Bernardo

Humph...looks like FS in this case is not looking in the right place for those sounds then for what ever reason.
The only possible explanation for this I can think of is the name of the folder and or path.
OK....a bit ago we tried the entire panel folder from the 1049 where everything works and it still worked in the 1649...of course showing the wrong panels and with incorrect view points.
Let's try just the panel.cfg file from that 1049 panel folder in the 1649.

HI Stefan: Humph... Didn't work either. I took out the original panel and saved it in the desktop. Then I copied in the panel.cfg of the L1049 and pasted it in. Opened the sim...then the L-1649 tested the switches and a/p disconnect, those are ok. then changed to v/c clicked on the safeties.Again only the clicks are audiable? I have ven tried by adding the VCON30 folder to the sound folder, from previous versions Back when I had it running I had FSX std in this computer both in Vista and XP SP2.Which the sim was installed by default in program files. Here with acceleration the sim is installed by default under programs in my C: I tested all my other planes in my hangar that have this sound Wilco CX; Tilt Rotor and the other Connies and it works there. Thanks for your reply: Bernardo

So now all our Connies work only the L-1649A doesn't ? Or are you talking about other Connies not from our team (there are people who use those ) The other airplanes may have the same sound but it is not the "exact" same sound file that they call up. Theirs might be in the gauges folder, a separate sound folder.....or where ever. The only airplanes that matter in this case are our L-749, L-1049 and L-1649A as they should all be calling up the "exact" same sound file. If all our Connies work ... then we need to compare their panel folders and panel.cfg files ....something has to be different. I am going to be off to the Fatherland for 2 weeks starting tomorrow....so I don't know if I'll check in during that time or not. Stefan

Hi Stefan: I admire your dedication to my quest,Thank you!.... I'll start comparing panel folders and panel.cfgs as you suggest. The connies I have are those of cal-classics; I have no others,I even installed the CV 240 and the safety sounds work there too. There's no rush right now. As I'm busy with other things nnow, mydaughter is celebrating her 19th birthday today and we're off for Normandy next Tuesday evening. I see how far I get?
Thanks you have a safe trip:
Bernardo

No worries mate....now my I just want to find out why it will not work Again any plane other than our Connies does not matter. Just because they work doesn't mean anything. If all the other Connies from our team work then it's unlikely to be an OS / FSX problem in general, but a file not in the right place. When you used the entire panel folder from the 1049 you said it worked in the 1649. Now it's just a question of finding out what is missing or different. I would use the 1049 panel folder and then copy in the 1649 panel.cfg and see what you get and then go from there. Stefan
