::)Well, out of curiosity, I bought the new Proflight Simulator that is supposed to be better than any other produced so far. Well, I have a bulletin for you. The scenery looks like something out of the cartoon page of the Sunday comics, and the airplanes look like they were drawn by a 5th grade art class. I don't think any of Microsoft issues need worry. On a scale of 1 to 10 I give it a 2.

Isn't that the one that was originally an open source freeware project I hope you can get your money back either way. It sure does not sound like it is worth it. Cheers Stefan

I'm not sure, Stefan, but I think it is a rejuvenated version of the old FS98 Pro-Pilot that was produced by Sierra and failed miserably. I still have that one and it looks an awful lot like it. The money is not an object. I buy every flight simulator that comes out on the market just to add to my collection. After I test it a couple of times, it goes back into the box and on the shelf with all the others. FS9 is the only one that I keep active.

I did that as well for a long time Jesse, free flight or combat if it had airplanes I bought them. I even got an Xbox just to try out what those were like. The ones I tried were great graphically, but of course far from realistic as a sim. Here is what I was referring to regarding the freeware/pay ware issue www.flightgear.org/flightprosim.htmlCheers Stefan

Yes, this is a repackaged version of the freeware Flight Gear simulator. While the packaging does add some value to the program, others are not so sure that this repackaging is worth the price...

Hey guys. Just like to say I own a copy of ProFlight sim and I love it. Found it on a website review here www.fs-review.com , purchased it and am enjoying it very much on my 4 year old PC. They keep sending me a bunch of upgrades and scenery. Better than MSFS's choppy framerates (I only have a ati 3650 card). Haven't touched X-Plane for about ten years...maybe time for a computer upgrade!

Great enterpreneurship: download some freeware and sell it as payware! How creative!

Well, as I said they did repackage it to make it easier to install, and they do offer updates, etc. So they *are* performing a service.

Another good reason for not buying the New Proflight Simulator. It can only be loaded on to your C:\ Drive. It cannot be placed on any other hard drive that you may have on your computer. I questioned Proflight about this and they said that C:\ Drive is the default and cannot be changed due to programming. They recommended removing programs to make room for the sim.
Save your money.

Jesse, Another sim to add to your collection: fly.simvol.org/indexus.phpThis is the old Fly II sim reissued as freeware. The pictures look good, and certainly much better than Proflight. And the price is right- FREE- Unfortunately, aircraft selection and scenery is limited. The Scenery is only of France, but looks very detailed in the screen shots. I'm still happy with FS 9 Hy

Thanks, Hy. I'll download it and transfer it to a DVD. I think I still have the old Fly out in my workshop. I'll run out there and check.

Okay. Fly was still sitting quietly on the shelf out in the workshop. Since it was released compatible for 2000, I doubt if it will fly in FS9. I'll see how it works. Jesse

This is the old Fly II sim reissued as freeware. The pictures look good, and certainly much better than Proflight. And the price is right- FREE- Looks quite a lot like a default installation of FS9... but, as it is, it came out 4 years before, when M$ gave us all that other jewel of coding called FS2000 ( AKA: FSX V 0.9). Unfortunately, aircraft selection and scenery is limited. Too bad... but without support it's to be expected. The Scenery is only of France, but looks very detailed in the screen shots. THIS is quite the downer. FlightGear can boast coverage of all the world and even the today usable versions of FS prior to 5 had at the very least all the USA to offer... but getting France only to fly upon ( and without a nuclear bomb to drop either ;D), it gets boring... I'm still happy with FS 9 Ditto.
