Jesse, Take good care of yourself and do as your doctor tells you ! Look in on the site when you can. Your first hand knowledge of the airplanes, systems and procedures of the last 80 years is almost the story of flight itself, and has been a wonderfully warm and friendly resource for all of us. We will all miss your comments and posts . Many more years of sunshine and health to you, Jesse, and Thank you for everything you've posted on the site. Andy.

Jesse,
This is terrible news, and quite a shock. I hope that the doctors can provide you with the treatment you need so that this does not deteriorate further. You have been a very valued member of this forum, and your posts are always an interesting read. As another from "down under", I heartily endorse MikeW's comment.
Age can be so cruel, but hopefully, we all deal with it gracefully. Personally, I hate getting older. I'm currently reading Roger Moore's autobiography and in it, he poses the question of his epitaph, then decides the answer is easy - he'll never need one!! So I hope the same also applies to you. May you continue to enjoy this life for many years yet.
Hope we hear from you again, Mike.

Jesse,
As Tom said earlier, I didn't look forward to opening your message. I'm not a regular contributor to this forum, as you have been from day one, but I read it every day and have learned more than I thought possible from you and many others.
I'm a few years younger than you, but you've been an inspiration and a breath of fresh air since joining here. Like many others, I always read a thread that has "Jesse" attached to it. And I've passed on a few of your stories to my young son, the newly licensed pilot. He found it hard to believe your casual comment about flying under a bridge during your younger days.
I know you'll take advantage of the best options available to you, and I look forward to many more "Jesse" messages. To meet your time limit, they may be shorter messages, but please continue to share your knowledge and good humor.
My very best regards, JerryH

I'm not much of a forum rat so not many of you outside Tom and Jesse know me.
I've known Jesse for just about all the 15 years we've been involved in flight simming. We first met those many years ago on the old Hangar Talk forum at Flightsim.com
Since then I have a been a guest in Jesse home and he's been a guest in mine. We've met at some of the Confederate Air Force air shows in Midland Texas, about halfway between his home and mine. Jesse sponsered me for membership in the Confederate Air Force.
Jesse and I have exchanged many flightsim programs and aircraft over the years and he has graciously tested out several of the sceneries and ai flight programs I have contributed to California Classics.
We're both pilots ourselves, me a novice and he an ace. And we have spent many an hour hangar talking face to face and over the internet. I doubt a week has gone by in the past dozen or so years that we haven't communicated.
So it is with a personal saddness I bid farewell to our flightsimming partnership, although not to our personal one.
Hang in there my friend and thanks for opportunity to be your friend.

Jesse, sorry to hear that you've been diagnosed with ARMD. I hope that you and your eye doctor can work on a plan to at least try to mitigate its effects as I know there are several treatments out there right now that, if not fully approved, are in the process of being approved and show some fairly promising signs (I have a family member with the condition as well) to at minimum slow or stop the progression and in some cases appears to have reversed the effects. In the meantime - have fun off the computer and when you feel you need to be on - blackmail someone into sitting beside you to help out.

Jesse,
This is just terrible news. I can't tell you how sad it makes me to think that you won't be able to enjoy your #2 love. I do wonder though whether a teeny little bit of flying now and again will accellerate your Macular Degeneration. After all, does the macula really know whether you're looking at e-mail or the end of a runway coming up at 85 knots?
Take care now,
Al

Ahh Jesse,
I'm not an overly wimpy sorta guy, but I gotta admit, I feel so bad for you, I haven't ever flown in real life and hearing your stories of the old flying days built up a great appreciation for your experiences. This knowledge is what contributes to my sadness.
You aren't leaving, you WILL be checking forums and you can still type......you just need to do it faster now to get all your responses in on the forums before your daily limit expires!
I need some flight lessons, maybe I can fly and you can coach? ;D

Jesse,
I just logged on to check things out since my wife and I have just moved back home from her having a bone marrow transplant. Imagine my surprise when I saw this thread. I hope all goes well with you. I'm developing the same condition in my left eye so I know a bit about what you're going through.
Just take care of yourself and drop in when you can.
George

Hi Jesse,
I hadn't been around (on the forum) for a couple of weeks, so I was rather shocked to read this thread. Please take care, and I hope you can still share your stories with us - there's still an awful lot us young ones (26 myself) can learn...
Nikko.
