Nice bushpounder, is that guy to your left drawing on that sign, "Kilroy was here," only joking. Seriously that is a lovely engine.

Hi all, this was me in 2001. In honesty I'm posting it for the aircraft rather than it being a picture of me. Also I'm seeing if I can post a photograph. Peter Plymouth England PS. I was so excited at being allowed to look/climb around this aircraft, that I took about twenty photographs before I realised I hadn't loaded a film into my camera (pre digital days!!)

I know that Connie. It's the one now residing at the Aviodrome, Lelystad Airport, Netherlands. Yes, N749NL. If all goes well she should fly again one of these weeks after 4 years of restauration works. Cheers, Maarten

I knew that she would be recognised. This was at Avra Valley and they had just done an engine run and found particles in the oil, necessitating an engine change. Quite a trip, as well as seeing this one and the Swedish original one at Avra, we also went to Pima and saw more Connies there and also to Grand Canyon, Valle, where we were able to look around another. In total I think we saw 6 Connies. Also drove quite a bit of old Route 66. Heaven! Only wish I could have taken my '57 Lincoln with me, even though it has no air con. Peter

Thanks, I've had the car for 25 years, a part of the family really. Both my sons had their first car ride when they were brought home from the hospital in it, following their births.
My youngest son has now taken a great interest in the car, so eventually it will be his.

Okay, here's a repost of all my messages in one - Post 1 -Me working the Tower Simulator at Wright-Patterson AFB in 2004. Not me (I'm taking the pictures) but Charleston, WV, in 2004 flying jumpseat on my former employer. The airplane I was in. Me at the highest aerodrome in North America. Post 2 -I remember the Agathers fondly. As you may know, Victor was the procurer of FiFi, our B-29.....A famous quote from Mrs. Agather "You bought a What? " Yep, and she changed her mind when he showed her the name on the side. Jesse, I know there's a lot of people who have the same sentiment, but it wasn't for PC they changed it. It was for survival. Even Lloyd was saying the name needed to be changed 25 years ago for the organization to survive. Sadly, PC or not, big corporations just won't give money or sponsor a group with a word like "Confederate" in the name or a confederate flag as part of their emblem. As it is, only now is there finally a concerted push to make the name change stick, re-brand the organization as the Commemorative Air Force, and get those sponsorships that the CAF needs to become endowed and survive into the future so our planes don't end up behind velvet ropes in the next 5-10 years as they will if we don't step up. BTW, anyone else on this forum who's interested in vintage aviation and warbirds, find your nearest CAF wing and at least make a small donation to them. We're one of the last groups trying to keep these planes flying and the fuel costs have hit us and the entire warbird community very hard and we need your support more than ever. BTW, two more photos for you - Atmospheric shot of the CAF's R4D-6S 'Ready4Duty' Veteran's Day 2008 - Apache watching our flight of 4 departing for a flyover Post 3 -I have to add this picture taken over last weekend - That is "Blackie" Blackburn and myself. "Blackie" is one of the CAF's original B-29 pilots and flew B-29s in WWII and Korea before that. He was the subject of a Japanese Documentary on "Air Forces Day" 1945 when over 800 B-29s were put in the air on a mass attack on Japan. It was the largest number of B-29s ever launched. He was also awarded the DFC with Bronze Oak Leaf among other awards during his career. The California link? He was an LAPD officer after he left the Air Force (see second link). Several items on "Blackie" - www.signonsandiego.com/uniontrib/20040430/news_7m30wings.htmlwww.ivnavyleague.org/newsletters/200705.pdf
