I picked up on this by accident, my surname is Reece not Reese, but the name is pronounced the same so I kind of had the idea of opening the base up again. In FS it is called 8XS8 Reese airstrip, there is no parking or taxiways etc so I did a simple AFCAD and added some plus I made it ai compatible. I can't get my head round doing excludes so I did the taxiways around the bits of scrub that is growing around the airfield. It still doesn't look good as there is no buildings, yes you guessed I'm no scenery designer, I looked and searched the net just in case someone had done the base again but I drew a blank, I'm just wondering if anybody here has done if privately?

Looking at in in Google Earth there appear to be Packing crates all over the Ramp. I went through Pilot training there in '63-'64. The Runway layout in FS 9 appears wrong (I'm not looking at it now). There were two parallel 17/35 12000' runways and a 4500' 17/35 for T-37s. There was one small east-west, but that was never used in the year I was there - Except when some Navy Dudes had to use it due to high winds and blew the tires trying to stop.

Hello Joe,
Nice to speak to you, thank you for the info, you say you trained there for a while, I believe it gets cold at certain months of the year. What aircraft did you train on, also what other types flew in there?

I was there from June to 63 to June of 64 Pilot Training Class 64-H (3500th Pilot Trianing Wing).
The Base had T-38s and T-37s and were phasing out the T-33 (Class 64-B was the last T-bird class there). We spent about 6 months in the T-37 then six in the T-38.
Prior to the T-33, T37 and T38s, it was a multi-engine school flying TB-25s, trainer versions of the North American Mitchell.
