DCA is nearly done! With many thanks to Al Courtney for providing photos, I have now finished modeling and texturing the main terminal, the Hangars on the southwest area of the airport and the hangars to the north are the last buildings to model and they are nearly finished as well. The City is not hugely updated, however much water class and landclass has been added and modified. I have created a much more realistic-to-the-time version of Bolling Field, Anacostia AFB and Andrews AFB to the southeast to help add realism to the runway 33 approach I have much improved my modelling techniques for performance, compared to my previous EWR scenery, my DCA scenery should be much better on the frames (EWR custom buildings amounted to 2369 polys, all of DCA accounts for just 659). After DCA is done I might release an update for EWR to increase performance.

Hi Chris, Sounds great! Make sure to provide lots of overflow parking for the AI - DCA always seems to be busting at the seams.

Thanks for this, Chris. This is one I've wanted to see for a long time.

Very much ahead of schedule, KDCA is now under Post-Production Testing. The north and southwest hangars and placed, modelled, and textured. At KDIA, the main terminal building is to be made. Two versions will be offered, one with Dulles open and one with Dulles under construction (unopened).

Chris,
You work really fast -- can hardly believe DCA is almost ready!
Would like to talk to you about reference photos for PHL. Just wondering how much you already have and what you might need, and how soon you'd like to have it. Hope I can help, but as I said earlier, most of what I have will be in the background of aircraft photos; the buildings themselves aren't the subject.
Will be a difficult project as I'm sure you know. That terminal building has many faces and will not be easy to get each facet right with respect to all of the others. Lots of different textures too...
Please send an e-mail (djones727 at embarqmail.com) or a PM.
Thanks for all your great work, Chris!

Dave, Thanks! I do end up with some free time every day and I guess I do work kind of fast with it I'm not really concerned about the photos, I have a lot already, but anything at all you may have will be welcomed. Before I considered DCA before PHL, I had already finished modelling, but not texturing, the main terminal, so that saves me some future work! And you're quite welcome for my work, it's nothing special but I guess it works until someone better comes and makes a better version

Okay, another update. Washington DC project is now as close to completion as ever. Dulles is now complete (both versions) and almost all of the city is complete. All buildings are modeled, textured, and placed. I have however been stuck on an issue I've never had before. I use SBuilder to add grass landclass for areas such as underneath the Pentagon and the airports, setting them to layers higher than anything else used in the simulator (in the mid 20's) so that they override everything but the afcads themselves. However, at DCA (Haven't looked at the other projects of mine yet) the lightmaps for the default city area show through, making the airport look like more urban landscape at night. Any help with this is appreciated as I have no idea how to solve this, considering I've never seen or heard of this issue before. When this is resolved I will be able to publish DC City.

Another update, I think I've fixed the issue although I have lost a little bit of the custom landclass to it. I don't know what else to do, but it works AFAIK right now, testing will keep going to make sure this issue is resolved. Hopefully I will have it up at AVSIM in just a few days!

Hey guys! Sorry for the lack of updates- I have been hard at work tweaking the little nitpicks of DCA. Release is hopeful for the 23 of this month!

Hey Chris,
Eagerly awaiting DCA!! Thanks for all of your hard work. I envision a lot of downloads for this scenery, especially for those of us who like flying up and down the east coast. Time to go preflight...
Regards, Phil

Personally, I have two large projects underway. 1. Eastern Europe 2. The Caribbean Once I am done helping out Tom with my section of the CA59/62 scenery update I can get back to working on my projects. After those are complete, I have no plans for any new scenery creations. I will focus on updating the AI and my older sceneries.

Hi Dennis I have 1962 charts for a lot of Caribbean airports and am happy to scan them if they will be of help. In the same manual are Mexico, Central America and Northern South America. Probably have a few mid and late 50s charts somewhere as well.
