Actually I only fly ( +/- 150 hours )with this C-47 in FSX since version 2 was released last year. Together with the most realistic sound and startup situation I hardly can imagine it can be made much better. It still has a modern ( Basler ) VC but with this vintage VC design from Jan Visser it will be number 1 for years !

This vintage panel will be a MUST for my Hump flying in FSX/acceleration. OUT-STAND-ING!

romeo22delta-Have you downloaded the Hump Flights and scenery from dc3airways.com? I have done many of them with some really horrible weather providedbyActive Sky. Really challenging. I also have been flying the C-47 and the C-117 a lot. I must say it is a real treat. I have just about every DC-3 that was every offered for pay or free. Until this V2 from MJ, I think the MAAM models were the best, but the MJ V2 is now at the top of the heap.

I need to download those and fly some. My Great Uncle flew 233 Missions over the Hump in a C-47B and he's always told some great stories about those flights and how iffy it could be sometimes, even with the improved "B" models. Many moons ago, they added some of his stories and pictures to the ComCar website - www.comcar.org/3rd_ComCar/10th_crew_stories/Jake_Saylor_page.htmIf you want an equally interesting read, search "Jake Saylor 15 TRS" (it's the first link)

@stratocruiser ... I have Alex Nicolson's scenery for my FS9 (cbiv7), FSX, FSX SP2 (cbixV1) installs; they are great (would love to be able to get in touch with him though; have some questions). For my missions, I've been working my way through Chick Marrs Quinn's book, THE ALUMINIUM TRAIL. It is a record of aircraft losses on the Hump route from '42 through '45. Right now I'm just into the March '44. So far I've flown missions in: C-46, C-47, C-53, C-87, C-109. I flown out of just about every field in the Northern Assam Valley (Chabua, Sookerating, Dinjan, Tezpur, Jorhat to name a few) to China (Yunanni-Yi, Kunming, Chengtu, Paoshan, Yangkai, Chungking to name a few). Soon I'll get my hands on a C-54 too.
My Dad was lost on C-46A #47135 on 16, March, 1945 on a flight from Chabua to Kunming. He wasn't scheduled to fly, but when a friend who was, went on sick call, he took the flight as co-pilot. They had lost an engine and overshot Kunming and crashed on go-around.
I've got a ton of books on the Hump and never cease to be amazed that today, few youngsters know anything about it. That's a real shame.
Presently I'm down to my laptop while getting my new desktop up and running. Hopefully I can resume flying soon ... before I get too rusty. For my C-47s I'd been using both the MAAM and Manfred's first version, The V2 will be loaded into my hanger as soon as my old, broker computer gets back and I can transfer all my good stuff!
