Great scenery there! Will Boeing Field (KBFI) be available on it's own? Dave

Hi,
Boeing Field will be part of the Pacific Northwest scenery package. I assume it would be possible to pick out just the Boeing Field parts if that was what one wanted.

Hi Mike,
Yes, looking forward to Boeing Field and I particularly liked to see the work you've done on Seattle city. That's one of the major highlights of the approach to 13. Been there, done that!

Okay, I just realized that there is a model of the 367-80 available -- the one from Historic Jetliners. Have you thought about getting in touch with them and seeing if you can use it in the AI pack?

It would eat up too much of the frame rate in a spot that doesn't need that.

I've heard that a guy over at RetroAI is converting the HJG models for AI use. Mayhaps he'll do the 367-80?

On the next trip to visit Tom I will squash the AI 707-138 model and produce two new models: a C-135 model and the dash 80 model.
There is already almost too much going on within a short range with SeaTac (KSEA), Boeing Field (KBFI), the port of Seattle, the World's Fair, etc that it is right now at the border of what is acceptable for frames per minute. I have a high powered computer and I will get a quick stutter at KSEA if I suddenly view the direction of Boeing Field and Seattle. So that tells me that enough has been added for this scenery at this location. I already had to create multiple LODs for the Boeing Field tower, terminal, factory and other buildings to prevent frame rate stutter. With 25 707s, 4 C-135s, 2 C-97s, around 6 or 7 charter propliners, various GA and at least 4 West Coast aircraft present at Boeing Field, plus the usual 12 to 14 AI or more at KSEA, and the half dozen other airports in the vicinity with their respective GA, you can see the importance of keeping things simple to preserve frame rates.
Frankly, I'm often at Boeing Field at the terminal side across from the Boeing Flight Center where the Dash 80s is parked at, and it is actually fine just the way it is. You can't really tell other than that tall tail that its not correct. Nevertheless I will squash it down to size on my next California trip.
As far as AI models go, I am perfectly content with Dee's AI jetliner models and the modifications that Tom has made to them over the years. I'm not willing to put any work into another AI model from somebody else in which I would have to create a whole new set of paint layers and start again from scratch just for a 24 inch narrower cabin and 15 foot or so fuselage shrink. Personally, I'm a flyer, and I'll trade frame rates for smooth performance any day over " overly complicated eye candy" scenery filled with extraneous details that are often not even viewable from the pilot's seat.

Hi,
Yes, we have been making great progress. Mike has been upgrading all of the West Coast F-27 airports to custom terminals and hangars as he can find pictures, and now we are thinking of upgrading the DC-3 airport buildings from default to our new Classic Terminals and Classic Hangars libraries, which we just finished compiling yesterday. So it's still coming along, but will be a little while longer.

This is great news!! I am sure you know this already..The space needle, in 1962, was an orange color. actually "Galaxy Gold"...not the whole thing, just the saucer part.
Also, I notice in the PDX screenshot, the 205 bridge is there. it was built in 1982. Not critiquing, just pointing out. Hi, thanks for your photo of the Space Needle. Its now gold in the new scenery release! Personally I think it looks much better in the original gold finish than how it does today. The "205 bridge" in Portland has also been removed.

I was curious if this project was still underway. That Boeing Field scenery would come in mighty handy.
