Hello, Since there is a certain connection between Calclassic and Editvoicepack so to speak, I was wondering if any of you, developers or regular users, have any idea what could possibly spark this problem. So far, I've been using Editvoicepack for FS2004 with no problem whatsoever, but yesterday when I fired it up, it started to give me error messages like this: I don't know what it wants from me, I tried restoring the default FS9 ATC files, namely "USEnglishASOS.gvp", "USEnglishBig.gvp" and "airlines.cfg"; I tried uninstalling it and removing all traces of the program using Revo Uninstaller, followed by a fresh install, I tried deleting its remnants manually, but in the end everything failed to completely solve the problem. The reason I say "completely" is because I did manage to fire it up a few times, but then if I restart it, the problem is back. I even uninstalled MyTraffic 2006, thinking it might have something to do with it, I was wrong, apparently. I tried emptying the Temp folder too, didn't make a difference. Any trace of idea as to what may possibly cause this? I thank you!!

As far as I can tell, that file is not on my computer and EVP works fine for me. Where do you have EVP and FS installed?

FS is installed on disk D and EVP is installed in C/Propgram files/Bevelstone Productions/Editvoicepack. As a matter of fact, when I search for that file (files actually, everytime I start the program it gives me the nemae of a new file) I can't find it either on my system. Now I'm reinstalling FS, to see if it's something related to the FS or to my OS. I've heard others talking about the interaction with MyTraffic, which I use for retro traffic, not sure if that can cause any trouble. Will see what I can find next..if I can find anything...
Thank you so much for your input, I appreciate!

Hi,
You might want to try inactivating UAC (using the slider in the Control Panel) and trying it again. I never install any FS programs into any Program Files folder, since those folders are treated differently by any OS later than XP. If it then works OK and you want to keep UAC turned on, you'll need to reinstall EVP outside any Program Files folder (I use C:\FS\Editvoicepack).
Hope this helps,

Try to see if you can find out what that DLL file is, and as Tom says, try to avoid Program Files. My FS is at C:\FS9 and all associated programs are in a folder called C:\My Software. I generally do not install anything into Program Files if I intend to use it.

Thank you Chris for your input! The problem is, every time I start Editvoicepack, it mentions a different dll, it never mentions the same file. And when I navigate to the temp folder, those files EVP mentions are nowhere to be found.
I've since reinstalled FS, and now I cannot apply the update, FS9.1, it gives me error 25. I think I'm done with FS for the time being...waaaay too much headache for me, it's been enough.

Don't give up, its all a big learning experience if you ask me Error 25 usually indicates a corrupt download of the update, I got it once and I fixed it by redownloading the update. If you use internet explorer, also try going to Tools > Internet Options > General > Temporary Internet Files and click Delete Files, then redownload the update. As for EVP, I really don't know what else to try. Maybe try XP SP3 compatibility mode?

I'm aware about the possibility of a corrupt fs9.1upd, I cleared my temp internet files, I've re-downloaded it several times with IE, Firefox and Chrome and I still get that error. Add the EVP mystery to this, and it becomes clear (to me at least) that my OS (registry maybe?) is messed up. Up until now, I've been able to overcome many different issues with my FS without reinstalling the OS, I think this is not one of those issues. I am inclined to think I do need a fresh OS reinstall, because nothing makes sense; no matter what I do and what I try, the issues just won't give in, gonna reinstall OS, but I'll still give it a break

A'right, I think I found the problem (sort of, anyway); there are a few other programs I am not able to install/execute, such as flash player. Flash player said there's a new version available and I downloaded the exe file in order to update it, it'll go to about 50% and then it gives me some error, "flash player could not be installed" or something like that. And I know there was another program that failed to install some days ago, but I can't remember which one, so, yeah, there;s clearly SOMETHING cookin', i need to reinstall my OS.

Reboot and empty your temp directory. You should not have any DLL file running in there. Sounds very suspect to me. Maybe run a malware check? John PS found this at blogs.mcafee.com/mcafee-labs/dropping-files-temp-folder-raises-security-concernsDLL-preloading problems. Some applications may create an executable in the temporary folder and execute it. In this situation, when the .exe has DLL-preloading problems, it will search for that named DLL in the temporary folder. If a DLL with the same name is placed in the temporary folder, the DLL will be loaded right away.So maybe a legit or non-legit programme is looking for a necessary DLL file and not finding it in the right place is looking in the temp directory and giving you that error. I've since scanned my PC with Malwarebytes, found some 4 malwares, removed them, now the Flash player update (which I could not install before) works, but everything else is unchanged, I think the malware might have messed something up and now I cannot fix it unless I reinstall the OS. But not now, I need a break........
Thanks for offering to help!

Such a shame you will have to do that, but it sounds that way. Hopefully it will go smoothly, good luck.
