Looks good Ken!
I'd also add that at least to my eyes, the kerning (spacing between letters, or in this case, between letters and the dots) seems a bit tight. Again, just a small nit - but just thought I'd point out what I see.
Great work - they're great models made even better with every new repaint.
cheers,
dl

Hi,
Putting the nose stripe(s) on a separate layer can help, since you can then slide them around an/or rotate them to help them fit.

I have now achieved what I think is a reasonable result with the fictional BOAC Super G Constellation. A stripe going around the upper part of the nose tends to pixellate whatever I do, so I have done without it. The 'real' 1049D without the radar nose I shall make further efforts with, Ken

Right. Here is the latest version of the mythical BOAC Super G Constellation along with two shots of N6504C, one of the L1049Ds leased by BOAC 1955-56, the aircraft being Manfred Jahn's L1049H. The nose isn't exactly right, but the second shot in particular bears a reasonable resemblance to the photograph published by Delta Lima on the previous page. The port side window arrangement follows that photograph and the starboard side windows the plan published on the DiecastAircraftforum linked to by Tom, again on the previous page, Ken

Here is a more convincing version of the BOAC Super Connie, with the nose stripes just about right. I can see a certain amount of pixellation on the upper stripe adjacent to the nose cone but this is true of other paints of this type and may well be connected with my rig. When I am satisfied that all is as good as I can make it I shall probably upload this to Avsim. There is a photograph of this aircraft at Stuttgart, the scenery here being of course the excellent CalClassic version. Ken

Sometimes, Ken, there is no amount of fixing or adjusting that can fix texturing issues around the nose, especially around the front cockpit windows are concerned.
We all have turned out repaints with little flaws in this area. Your paints are looking very nice btw!

Thanks Mike. What you say about the nose doesn't surprise me, although I am glad to have it confirmed. I guess the problem may be that in some way there aren't enough pixels for the amount of curvature present. Although I am now fairly pleased with this paint of the real BOAC Super Connie I have seen other aircraft for FS9 (the Red Bull DC6, for example) which have made a rather more convincing job of the bare metal textures. It is obvious from photographs of the real aircraft that these were (and are in the case of those that have been preserved) mirror like in their appearance and I would like to get nearer to this look than I have at the moment.

To get a mirror shine, make the alpha channel darker, but only in the bare metal areas. You may also have to darken/lighten the bare metal after doing that.

I have now got as far with the BOAC Super Connie as I think I can and will probably upload it to Avsim in the next day or two. Below is the photograph of the aircraft concerned at Stuttgart together with my version in more or less the same position in the excellent CalClassic scenery, Ken Attachments:

This repaint is now available on Avsim and probably most easily found by searching for Ken Lawson. I have provided two versions of the fuselage textures, one with more reflection than the other. The photos are of the shinier version, which was a last-minute development but I think works reasonably well. My thanks to Tom and other members of the forum who helped with this project.

Have downloaded it and plan to give it a spin shortly. It looks like a very nice rendition and BOAC flights are some of my favorite to do so thanks for adding to my BOAC stable.
