Yes, some Win10 video drivers can be trouble. Look on the web for Win10 and FS2004, you might find some tips. I know that the options have changed.

Thanks Tom, Fs9 is like a comfy old shoe, feels great but a bit shabby in looks at times. This is where this site comes in with great scenery, planes and such.

Okay, I have recently hit upon a small problem and am wondering if anyone else has - Aircraft preview screen is now black for all aircraft. No other issues, everything else still works in game. I'm curious as to whether anyone else has had this happen recently as I suspect it's an nVidia driver update behind it. Certainly when I first installed it this wasn't an issue. OS: Windows 10 GPU: GeForce GTX 960 (driver version 364.51) I'm going to try uninstalling the drivers and reinstalling the one which came with the card itself, will keep you posted. As I said, everything else still works so it isn't a major issue. Just one of those niggles. Hi... I've got the same problem...FSX seems OK..I miss my CalClassic Airports! Tried the solution re: Mip Mapping..no joy. I'll keep messing.

I had the same problem. The aircraft in the preview screen reappeared when I changed FS9 to windowed mode. I've been running FSX this way for some time because, when I run it full screen, Windows 10 likes to hide the dialogue boxes.

I'm glad it helped. I prefer full screen myself, but sometimes you have to make a "lesser of two evils" decision.

Hi, The file fs91upd.exe is for updating FS2004 from version 9.0 to version 9.1. You do not rename the fs9.exe file before you do that. THEN AFTER you have done the update you rename the exe file and download and install the no-cd patch. Tom, I want to add my name to the chorus of folks who greatly appreciate your facilitating the use of FS2004 on both Windows 7 and 10. Thank you VERY much!!! Psychdoc01

Hello, I have followed all the steps to upgrade to FS 9.1 and then updated the no-CD patch but all I get is a blank screen when I run the FS9.exe again. I'm using a Windows 10 system. Any help?

I have the patch and fs9 works great in win 10,,in windowed mode. If I try to use full screen all I get is a black screen. I am running it at 4k rez so that might be some of the problem. I'm stuck in a similar situation. When I click on the FS9 icon, the screen just goes blank and it does not show the any part simulator page. I then have to Alt+Tab to get out of the blank page to get back to the desktop screen. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I'm sorry, but I'm not running W10 so I can't help. I'm guessing it's a video issue. Have you tried the Properties/Compatibility tab options when you right click the icon?
Anyone?

I did try the compatibility settings but to no avail. Microsoft cajoled me into upgrading to Windows 1 and now I'm regretting giving in to it! Mulling downgrading to Windows 8 or 7.

I'm just guessing here, so I hope I'm not stealing your time
Have you tried tampering with the fs9.cfg? Normally it's located under users\[user]\appdata\roaming\microsoft\fs9. Load it and search for sth. like:
[DISPLAY.Device.NVIDIA GeForce 8200M G .0] // your graphics card here Mode=1440x900x32 <-- check if resolution is supported by your video device MipBias=8 AntiAlias=1 <-- make it a 0 (zero) and save.
See, if it worked. Alternatively, delete fs9 or rename it to fs9_bk.cfg or sth. like that, and let FS9.exe create a fresh fs9.cfg at a new start.
Another option: Start FS9 in the window mode and set up graphics settings supported by your system. To do so, open fs9.cfg, search for
[GRAPHICS] FULL_SCREEN=1 <-- make it a 0 (zero) and save

Hey Paul, not at all. Thanks for the effort on your part to help! I tried looking up fs9.cfg but couldn't find anything. There are aircraft.fs9.cfg, panel.fs9.cfg, sound.fs9.cfg, display.cfg etc but nothing without those prefix.

It's in the Documents and Settings or Users folder. Search that folder for fs9.cfg.
