Not that often I pass by here, but just to let you know that I'm working of a new set of classic ships... Today testing this beauty from 1961 - the P&O SS Canberra I love it - can’t wait. Thx!

Just thinking too .... that's a beautiful rendition of P&O's CANBERRA. I remember that ship very well. Be nice to see other classic liners (among freighters) too .... like the UNITED STATES, FRANCE, QUEEN ELIZABETH (and QE2), QUEEN MARY (and QM2), ELLINIS ..... and other liners from the 50's, 60's, and 70's era. Mark C AKL/NZ You are aware that both the QE2, QM2 and SS France exist - the QM2 by Jean Pierre Fillion is included in Global AI Ship Traffic in a version for FSX and P3D all versions, there is also a version by Mitsuya Hamaguchi on flyawaysimulation. The QE2 by Simon Swallow is available on surclaro. And the SS France.... there is a beautiful version by Mitsuya Hamaguchi, which I have, but can't include due to copyrights, but where to find it for download now... hmmnnnn... even google seems to have lost track. That said I hope to add more "real" cruise ships to the sim...

These look wonderful. Did you ever produce the list of vessels that could be used for routes in the 50's and 60's? I was all set to start working on some routes in this era, but not knowing which vessels fit the bill. If you could list them, that would be extremely helpful.
Cheers,
Andy

Cheers, Andy Hi I gave up and made another model instead... I will see if I can get hold of a full list of the ships somewhere, and then do the sorting, but there are now 1200 ships so it is getting more and more difficult to keep track... Henrik

Henrik,
Excellent job, my friend!
If you have and are comfortable with Excel, you can do wonders with keeping tabs on things you are working on. I'm using it to keep the stations and data for the LORAN-A organized, otherwise I'd be pulling out what little hair I have.
I'm not sure how the AI software works to make the routes, but if it's like TTools then you can just take the txt file that corresponds to the ships (as opposed to aircraft) and import to Excel. I believe you are then able to delimit the data using the comma "," separating the fields. This makes each area of data between the commas a separate column in Excel. You can then adjust to your liking and eliminate the rows you may not need.
If you need more info or help just send me a message or an e-mail. My info is in the profile or you can ask Tom to forward the info to me.
Keep up the great work!
Regards and stay healthy,
Jorge Miami, FL

That is awesome!
I found that there are two passenger ships "hidden" in a file at SimOuthouse called "SimOuthouse_US_Frachter_WWII.xip" which are rather nice. They are two civilian mixed cargo/passenger ships called "Canterbury" and "Lorina" with really nice textures. The author has created wonderful warships and these civilian ones are along the same quality as the others.
Looking forward to all these!
Jorge

Thanks Henrik,
I'm looking forward to these. Having recently transitioned to P3Dv4.5, I've yet to do an install of your ships package. I had an oldeer version on my FSX install, and it was lovely.
Having these classic ships actually sailing in the new sim will be a real treat. Will I need to edit any of the effects to get rid of the weird "vertical wake" that happens when some FSX effects are loaded into P3Dv4.5?
cheers,
Daniel

So far 6 months after release no performance or display issues have been found. You can find it on www.simviation.com, www.flightsimnorway.com or www.flightsim.com. The Classic ships will be added sometime soon, but no fixed deadline.

There are post war freighters to be found in the CFS2 ship section at SIm outhouse. Liberty Ships, Hog Island freighters along with a Japanese war time freighter that fits the post war era. Some are AI, some are sailable.
