I managed to effectively hijack the "Sim Age" (calclassic.proboards55.com/index.cgi?board=chat&action=display&thread=732) thread and take it off onto talking about adding a little period military traffic. Sorry!
For the sake of any interest in that digression, here are some shots of what I was talking about. It's early days yet and I had a PC crash, but I am contemplating putting some of my work in circulation when I get a moment to package it. Since repairing my PC I have better anti-aliasing than in some of these, by the way - the T6 shots for example are recent.
Valiant takeoff, RAF Changi, Singapore. The aircraft isn't mine but the scenery is (Instant scenery!)
Another view of Changi. I should say it's an early shot - the road traffic has now been moved to the left, per British Commonwealth standards!
2 Sqn RAAF Canberras at Butterworth, Malaysia - my aircraft paints this time.
Another 2 Sqn. paint
Belgian T6 for AI - my paint
French T6, Algeria, my paint
Katangan T6 paint for AI
I know CalClassics is about the beautiful old airliners - this is just me saying I find all the oldies appealing! All the above are by way of adding a bit of military "texture" to the background traffic. GA traffic is a bigger job, so I am just painting and putting in a few "signature" lighties in addition to the Cal Classics GA.
VH-DSD ag aircraft, YPPF 1960s
VH-EFE of local car yard, YPPF, late 1960s
My efforts in making our local airport, YPAD, retro have been limited to what libraries I have. In fact the terminal should have brick walls, and the water tower had signage on it.
Adelaide YPAD terminal, 1960s, from airside
Road into YPAD, freight area to right with Qantas hangars and terminal / tower beyond
