I was amazed yesterday, having stopped changing and adding etc as I brought FSX back to where it should be with Cal Classic to do a flight from Honiara in the Solomons to Munda in the C-47 (In TAA Sunbird colours) it was a regular TAA run in the 1960's, to hear on the comm frequency ATC vectoring TRANSAIR 1329 from Honiara to Munda. What can I say, even the TAA timetables and AI traffic in the Sunbird colours, the AI traffic arrived 5 minutes before me. AI in FSX works? sure does!!

Older thread but bumped up with this query. I noted that Cal Classic AI will disable the FSX default AI, which is fine by me and by the way I find the AI traffic works fine for me on my FSX system.
My question is this does this intefere with ship traffic?, I was thinking about the mega ship package which I have installed but as I generally fly off the beaten track so to speak I rarely see ship traffic anyway.
The other thing I had an issue not seeing any traffic but remembered I had reconfig the fsx.cfg and forgot to put in the AI as a directory to recognise (DUH). If your using ORBX you may need to consider winding back the traffic to their recommended 16% which apparently they worked out stops OOM or lags with ORBX scenery which uses large size texture files.
I am currently winding it back up to 100% for the Cal Classic stuff just to see what happens.

Hi,
I don’t know about the ship traffic. It’s pretty simple to convert them to FSX format using AI Flight Planner.

Thanks Tom. I figured as the ship AI works of AI files that go with the vessels and they are in a separate directory to aircraft and world scenery it should not affect it but the problem with the ships is they are so darn slow anyway I might dig around and see if I can find something from the Ship AI people about schedules locations etc. Keep this one open until I can find out.

In FSX? You edit the cfg file in the plane’s soundai folder. If the plane doesn’t have a soundai folder, you create one from a sound folder.

Not sure if this is the correct thread on which to ask about my issue (I've searched the forum pretty thoroughly, but don't pretend to know what I'm doing). I recently started adding CalClassic's wonderful scenery; I'm using FSX. All was good until I added KBOS: suddenly I lost all traffic at KBOS, as well as KLGA, KJFK, KEWR and apparently the rest of the northeastern US. Same issue at EGLL. Previously I had added flight plans using AIFP2, all of which worked well. Now I'm stumped. Classic AI traffic elsewhere (Midwest, Southeast, Pacific Coast, Soviet Union) works, but I haven't figured out how to restore traffic to the areas mentioned. Any thoughts on how to fix this issue? Many thanks in advance.

I assume the traffic you are missing is the CalClassic flight plans? If you converted the CalClassic traffic to FSX format you have to be VERY careful that when you add an FS9 scenery that it doesn’t also contain a flight plan BGL file. If it does, then any FSX flight plans in that area will be inactivated. Traffic in other areas will be unaffected. Do a search for Traffic in the Addon Scenery folder and make sure they are all converted to FSX format. AIFP even has a command that will search for all FS9 format traffic files.
Hope this helps,

Thanks so much for the quick reply--I'll do as you suggest and let you know if it works. BTW, all traffic (CalClassic and other traffic I created with an AI traffic editor) disappeared.

Any FSX format traffic will disappear if you load any FS9 traffic file with traffic in that area. The area where traffic disappears gives you a clue where the FS9 traffic is located (and thus which scenery may contain it).

I had not tried using FSX with converted Cal Classic scenery so I was playing around with Hawaii converted scenery from FS2004 to FSX. I am seeing classic aircraft but also still the modern buildings and aircraft/ no 1950s bldgs. I am thinking I am missing a file or two. In the instructions there is a section that states:
7. If you have installed the original Honolulu Intl. scenery, open the FSX/Addon Scenery/CalClassic Core/scenery folder, and remove all files that start with: PHNL... XPHNL...
I do not find a CalClassic Core file in there. What am I missing?

The original PHNL scenery is from a long time ago, you probably don't have it installed into FSX. Did you install the FSX version that is on my scenery page? Did you add the PHNL scenery folder as a layer in the Scenery Library?
