Hi,
Recently I was plagued by a certain aircraft that refused to allow the "E" plus whatever engine selected to work properly. Nothing I repeatedly tried to do would work. The only way to fix it was to reload the plane - unacceptable. I have also had some other aircraft, the Greg Pepper Douglases for example, that occasionally after a long flight, these MS stock door/entry/engine selections no longer function.
Last night I discovered this handy little hidden gauge created by Rob Barendregt. Follow the simple instructions that are included, and then add a gauge entry line to the virtual cockpit section of your panel configuration file. Save and your problems will vanish forever!
Once properly installed, just hit "E" on the keyboard, and within ONE SECOND hit whatever number of engine or exit you wish and that selection will always work. It only gives you one second for your engine or door choice. When you want to select all engines again, simply press "E" again, do nothing else, and 2 seconds later all engines are automatically selected. There is no need to use "E" 1 2 3 4.
My problem originally was, I would hit "E" and select 2 and 3, but only engine 1 would respond. It was stuck on one engine and no matter what you did nothing worked. You could not choose any other engines without reloading the aircraft. Then last night I found this easy to install gauge.
In a nutshell, after downloading the gauge, in your gauges folder in FS you will create a brand new folder called rcb-gauges. Inside this new rcb-gauges folder you will place the downloaded gauge called SelectCorrect.xml. Then open the panel configuration file of whatever aircraft is giving your problems and in the virtual cockpit section add this line: gaugeXX=rcb-gauges!SelectCorrect, 0,0
Your problems have now vanished!
The file download is named rcbse-10.zip by Rob Barendregt and you can find it at both Avsim and Flightsim. I downloaded it last night from Avsim and tested it and am satisfied with it. Instruction are included with the download. It is an invisible gauge and nothing will show on your panel.
