Hi:
I managed to install fs9 on my new PC (Win10 64 bit & Dx12, i5 7400, nVidia GTX 1050 2GB, 8GB RAM), but not without some problems, all solved at this time. I think this can help.
The installation, in a dedicated folder, with the 4 CDRom gave a black screen at the end (at the time of starting fs9 to complete the installation). I then replaced the fs9.exe with the fs9.exe of the nocd_file, and I launched fs9 by clicking on this file. Everything went well and fs9 settled.
But when I wanted to restart a second time fs9, this one posted a message telling me that he needed Dx9c.
I then downloaded "directx_Jun2010_redist.exe" from the Microsoft site at this address:
www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109
and I proceeded to the installation on Win10. No worries because what is installed cohabit with no problem with Dx12. I then restarted fs9 successfully. I then deactivated the "Microsoft Flight Simulator" folder and replaced it with the one I was using with my old Vista PC, which I had saved to an external HDD.
I also replaced the folders and files in
users / xx / Document
and
users / xx / Appl Data / roaming / Microsoft / fs9
by those of my old Vista PC.
Then I modified the fs9.cfg to indicate the good paths, and also the new graphics card.
I also installed the latest nVidia driver for my card.
It was then necessary that I reinstall the driver 64bits of the joystick, and that I reassign the buttons and the axes in fs9. Otherwise he behaved strangely.
I have also turned OFF the setting in win10: "Contents of not active windows slide down when I pointing this". So I can use the wheel mouse for increasing/decreasing.
I also had to reinstall FSUIPC, and other third party software for camera, weather, navigation, otherwise they did not launch.
I then flew one hour in 1049G (from Lyon-Bron to Paris Orly, France) with, of course, CalClassic scenery.
First, a problem with the full screen that works more or less well under win10.
I improved things a little by setting win10 to "automatically hide the taskbar on the desktop".
When I need to access the menu, I return to a windowed view by Alt-Enter instead of Alt in full-screen mode, because this last method works randomly. Then I go back to full screen.
Then, fs9 blocked at the end of 30 or 40 minutes with the message: "FS9 out of memory".
I solved the problem little by little by changing the settings (for fs9 only) of the nVidia card (especially Vsynch (out) and the following parameters in the list at least).
Finally, I did the total flight without any problem in 1049G, with cloudy weather, anti alias x8, anisotropic x8 filtering, and full screen!
I hope this can help some of you!
All the best.
