Hi,
Well I'm playing the kiddie pool of modelling, and seeing more success that any previous attempts - thanks to Tom's tutorial
on converting FS9 airplanes to FSX. My project is to make the CV-440 an FSX native airplane following the instructions,
and I'm 95% there after a day of learning. It's that last 5% that has me baffled. I thought I'd ask here so that any answers
might help any others.
Note: I'm using the very latest development version of MCX I downloaded yesterday.
I have three remaining problems (that I know of).
1) The landing lights. I can't get them to illuminate the ground or anything. They are visible when turned on and extended,
seemingly in the right place and they shine at you, but at night, they don't light anything up, no matter how I tilt the airplane.
I think it might be related to a small difference between the tutorial and what actually happens. I'm assigning an attach point for each
light (left and right) to fx_landing as instructed, but when I select the correct attach point and it turns yellow to confirm
that it's the one, the colored alignment lines described in the tutorial are nowhere to be seen. There no green line. I changed
the orientation to (0;0;90) but from there I have no ideas except to change the pitch to something like (0;-10;90) to get it to
point down, but no light ever shows up on the ground. If the option to turn on those alignment lines is hidden somewhere in MCX,
I haven't found it yet.
Other than that the external mode works fine with all other animations and lights.
The VC looks and works fine with two exceptions:
2) All the parts are animated properly except there are no mouse clickable spots on them. I can move the prop levers, for example
with the keyboard but I can't click on the levers in the VC and move them. I get no hand when I mouse over them. I'm missing something,
but what?
(Clickable 2D switches from gauges work fine.)
3) The worst effect of this is that the bank wheel for the autopilot won't turn. I don't know if it's the same problem, or a different
one. The animation manager window shows some custom animations and events for that and a few other controls and I don't know what to assign as
an animation code for them - currently is a generic "Action01" assigned by MCX I assume.
Thanks for any help or suggestions. Clearing these things up and the 440 will be 100% fsx native and I can fly it in P3D I hope.
