HO scale is a great compromise scale. Easy to detail and work with, but takes up roughly half the space of O scale model trains. N scale is nice too, especially for small spaces, but it is harder to detail and to work with than HO scale. Alas, my model railroading stuff is packed away, no space to work with and no time for such things.

Beautiful indeed. I have no layout at home, but am a member of the Model Railroad Museum in Balboa Park (San Diego).

My father in law has at least half of his basement devoted to an HO scale train diorama of Bavaria.
