Hello all! Until very recently both compressed scenery, and aircraft files could be extracted simply by clicking on the file and selecting "extract to" from the drop down. Now almost all, if not all of those files have acquired a Winzip Icon, and you are invited to open the file with Winzip, which of course you have purchase after your 15 day free trial. What application was unzipping the files prior to that, and where has it gone, does anyone know? I have used Explorer to open the files, is that sufficient? Is this an example of corporate shenanigans aimed at making us pay for something that was free beforehand? Fin Fraser (Holding out in Win 7)

I assume that some other program you installed changed the default program to open Zip files to encourage you to buy it. The default program is built into Explorer - when you use Windows Explorer you are using the default program. You might be able to change the default action back to Windows Explorer, but I'm not sure how.
The general process is to:
Right click on a .zip file and select Open With and then Choose Default Program.
Select Windows Explorer and check the box that says always use it for opening .zip files.
Hope this helps,
