I have CA59 scenery installed. I downloaded and installed all eight (8) of the ai2k4* files. I downloaded and installed the ai2k4T file. I downloaded and installed the ai2k4afcad file.
I selected Option A, with the purpose of not have any modern traffic show. All I want to the CC AI traffic. My scenery library shows this:
CalClassic Traffic 1957 CalClassic Traffic 1959 CalClassic Traffic 1962 CA59 CA62 CalCassic Core CalClassic LandClass Static Objects Library Addon Scenery
The bold & underlined ones are checked (active).
I am not showing any AI traffic. The Airline Traffic Density is set to 100%. I reloaded FSX several times, still no traffic, either CC or modern.
I was wondering if modern traffic was interfering with the CC AI traffic. I was not able to locate the traffic030528.bgl in the FSX\Scenery\World\Scenery folder. I did see a file called "trafficAircraft.bgl". I removed that file to see if there was any difference. No there was no difference, still no CC AI traffic.
Did I miss something in the installation? I did not add the soundpack, yet.
Any ideas on how to get CC AI traffic to show up in FSX?
thanks,
Rich Boll

Try unchecking DX10 as a test - do they show up then?

Try unchecking DX10 as a test - do they show up then? Hi Tom, I unchecked Preview DX10. No difference, not AI traffic. Did I missed something on the installation? It seems like had this happen before where I did include a file or didn't rename/remove a modern traffic file? Thanks, Rich

Tom,
I may have goofed this up. For FSX, was I supposed to download these models:
FSX native models which are P3D compatible are available from Ed Akridge: File 1 File 2 File 3 File 4 File 5 1957 Traffic 1959 Traffic 1962 Traffic. Last updated on 1/19/19.
I downloaded the older models below this. The FSX models had files names related to P3D, so I thought they were P3D only?
Thanks,
Rich

The FS9 models work fine for me in FSX (DX9 and DX10). I didn't know if there are problems using DX10 on your computer, that's why I asked. The FSX models are required for P3D, that's why they are listed that way. I just checked out 1962 KLAX in DX9 and DX10, and the AI aircraft show up in both. The buildings are invisible in DX10, though.
The sounds are not required.
Did you download the FS9 Traffic file (File #9) from below or the FSX traffic file from the top of that page? If you installed the FSX traffic file, any FS2004 format traffic BGL files you may have loaded will suppress any FSX format traffic files, and you won't see anything. But since you have all three years listed in your Scenery Library I assume it was the FS2004 version which includes all three.
Please check that in the FSX/Addon Scenery/CalClassic Traffic 1962/scenery folder you have at least the following files:
Traffic_1962.bgl TrafficWorld_1962.bgl

I bet I know. Did you move all the AI aircraft folders from the FSX/Aircraft folder to the FSX/SimObjects/Airplanes folder?

Hi,
Glad we finally got it. I don't include FSX instructions because it's really only for FS2004. But I can tell you that any time you install a plane using my installer (unless it's specifically for FSX or later) you will need to move the folders from Aircraft to SimObjects/Airplanes.

Hi Rich - for a long while I said I was too old to learn FSX but I recently made the switch and it was nowhere as painful as I expected. Like you have haven't touched FS2004 since!
All of the answers are out there on forums but some take a bit of finding. Feel free to get in touch if you find yourself tearing your hair out over anything.
The biggest pain for me is the astronomical price of commercial add-ons for FSX - at the present exchange rate here I typically pay five times what FSX cost me for utilities I can't live without, and one costs me that much annually on a subscription basis. Ouch!
Best regards,
John

Ouch! Best regards, John Thanks John! I appreciate the information. I spent a great deal of money on FSX and P3D addons. I use P3Dv4 for my modern flying, and the flying that helps keep me current (current Lear 75 & CL300/350 captain). However, I missed the days where the VOR and NDB rule. Came along too late the AN range. I have done some DF stuff, though! I did a flight from LAX to SAN yesterday after installing ORBX (just the base map, trees, and buildings, not the vector) and AS16. I just built a i9900K systems with a GeForce RTX 2060. Sliders full right or at least right as recommended (don't want errant telephone poles), 100% traffic. CalClassics looked real nice! I have two questions about CalClassics and FSX: 1. Any way to remove the taxiway signs from the modern era? At LAX in both the 59 and 62 model, I have modern taxiway signs all over the place. 2. In the CA59 package, there's a file to convert the yellow taxiway markings from yellow to white. The "taxiway.marks" file that I found in the FSX\texture folder is not a .bmp file for direct replacement. it's a .dds file, whatever that is. When you look at the file in File Explorer in extra large icon mode, it has both yellow and white lines. Is there a setting somewhere where a person can switch from yellow to white taxiway marks? Thanks again for your help! Rich Boll

Hi,
Taxi sign are handled differently in FSX, and sometimes our current excludes for FS2004 don't work in FSX (as at KLAX). Here's how to remove them, using ADE:
0. Back up the following files in the FSX/Addon Scenery/CA62/scenery folder:
ADE_KLAX_62.bgl (if not present, back up the AF2_KLAX_CA62.bgl file instead) ADE_KLAX_62_GP.bgl
by copying them and pasting them into the parent FSX/Addon Scenery/CA62 folder. If you have an old version it might be called AF2_KLAX_62.BGL, that will work as well. If you have the ADE files present the AF2 file is a dummy file and will not open in ADE.
1. Quit FSX. Open ADE for FSX 2. File/Open Airport from BGL 3. Browse to the FSX/Addon Scenery/CA62/scenery folder. 4. Choose the ADE_KLAX_62.bgl file (or the AF2_KLAX_62.bgl file if the ADE file is not present). (Don't worry about the ADE GP file - that provides the ground polygons and can be left alone - you have it backed up because ADE may delete the one in this folder). 5. The 1962 KLAX airport should open. Confirm you have opened the correct file from the airport layout. 6. Tools/Load Stock Data. 7. If it asks you to Save the airport, Click the ... button (if necessary) browse to the ADE/FSX/Projects folder and click Select Folder. Click the Save button. 8. Check the Taxi Signs box. Click Import. The taxi signs should now be displayed at the airport. 9. Lists/Taxi Signs. Click the Select All button (be patient). Click the Delete button (be patient). All Taxi Signs should be removed from the display. Click Close. 10. File/Compile Airport. 11. Click the Open Folder button. 12. Browse to the FSX/Addon Scenery/CA62/scenery folder. Click on the ADE_KLAX_62.bgl file (or the AF2_KLAX_62.bgl file if that is the one you opened). 13. Click the Save button, say yes to the overwrite (remember we have it backed up). 14. Click the Compile button. Hopefully you get the Airport Compiled message (I did). 15. If ADE deleted it, restore the GP file by copying the backup file in the FSX/Addon Scenery/CA62 folder and pasting it into the FSX/Addon Scenery/CA62/scenery folder. 16. Restart FSX and the taxi signs should be gone.
The 1959 version is in the FSX/Addon Scenery/CA59/scenery folder and is called AF2_KLAX_CA59.bgl. You can do the same thing as above for that file.
Hope this helps,

I have edited the taxiway_marks.dds file to provide white lines instead of yellow (note this will be true AROUND THE WORLD). It is now included in the CA59/62 package and available separately here: www.calclassic.com/Temp/taxiway_marks_FSX.zipHope this helps,
