For many years I have tweaked and changed things on a 2D panel, and have gotten pretty good at it. The VC, however, is different. What I have discovered, it seems, that there is a 'middle' of the VC panel and depending on which side of this line you want to put (or change) a gauge, it is either increasing the number value to the right, or increasing the number value to the left. On the -240 VC panel, there are entries for VCockpit01 and Vcockpit02 and which is which? Some entries are listed on both, but some are different, and if I want to change something on the VC panel, with listing do I use, 01 or 02? Further, and I tried this unsuccessfully, I wanted to add a gauge that was not originally a part of the -240 panel (something from another panel that I know worked on the 2D panel), but when I tried to add it in, the gauge only partially showed up and not in the spot I was expecting it to be, and when I tried to move it left or right, it would disappear entirely.
So, the question... how do you edit the VC panel, exactly? And if I wanted to 'paint over' something on the VC panel, how is that accomplished? As an example, I wanted to get rid of the radar gauge, but it still shows the green background and gauge outline, even with the line '/' in front of the entry. Where is the background image in the folder that I can use Paint on, to edit the VC panel itself? Or is this a skill far beyond the casual panel editor that I am? lol.

Hi,
The panel images are in the panel’s folder, pan1 and pan2. The night textures are in the plane’s texture folders, pan1_L and pan2_L. The day textures would probably contain the radar frame?
The gauges can only be placed on the polygons that are set up for that. If you try to place them elsewhere they will not appear, as you found. The gauges listed on both appear on two polygons.
The simple answer is that panel 01 is mapped to certain gauge polygons, while pan 02 is mapped to other polygons. I do understand that is not very helpful, though.
I use Panel Studio to edit the gauges in the VC, which makes it easier to visualize the relationship between the gauge position numbers and their location in the VC.
If you need more details I could post a screenshot of the gauge layout of each texture.

For example, here is the 240 panel VCockpit01 texture (using pan1.bmp): and here is the VCockpit02 texture (using pan2.bmp): Hope this helps,

I was able to add some radio gauges to an area where no gauges existed, and they showed up and functioned normally. However, when I tried to add a gauge where the radar gauge existed, it only partially showed, except when I moved it to where another gauge was that I omitted, it showed up, but a knob sat right in the middle of it. I do understand what you are saying about pan1 and pan2 and they polygons, at least to understand that it is not at all like moving things around on the 2D panel... If I can tweak it enough for my own purposes, then I will be content with that.
Thanks for the reply, it does clear up some things well enough.
