Some Stratocruiser flights I did recently. Pan American World Airways from New York Idlewild to Bermuda circa 1957. On the Ramp at Idlewild. At cruise altitude. She's quite a handful to handle. A bit of a bounce there. On the ramp in Bermuda. BOAC....LOndon Heathrow to Rome Ciampino. Holding at RWY28L for Air France Viscount on short final. Climbing out to cruise altitude. Aircraft sporting the blue tail livery. On the ramp at Rome Ciampino. United AL San Francisco to Seattle. On the ramp at San Fran. circa 1960. Departing San Fran. Cruising at FL200. Passing Mt. St. Helen. That's a bit better. On the ramp at Sea-Tac, Northwest Orient.... Milwaukee to New York Idlewild. On the ramp starting those big radials. Departing the Milwaukee aria. Cruising at FL210 across Lake Erie just east of Detroit. On the ramp at Idlewild.

Prior to the end of 1954 all of United's B377s had been sold and delivered to BOAC

The shots of the NWO Flt leaving Mitchell Field, brought back memories. My Mother flew that very type of Flt, to go to Her Step-Father's Funeral in New York. It is funny that the Capital Viscount is in the background, as that is Airline & A/C she came back on. Good research. Take Care, Stefan

My father flew with a same a/c in 1956 or 57 from New York to Baltimore to visit his sister in Annapolis. He then was a Swissair navigator. And amazing that actually I use the same aircraft as FS9 dlgsplash Bernard

In the same OAG Northwest was flying 377s: Chicago - Minneapolis weekdays NY Idlewild - Minneapolis daily Tom: Does Your info show whether that those MSP to IDW flight stopped in MKE? I know right up until the merger into Delta, Northwest had many Flights that started in MSP, stopped in MKE, and went on to Wherever. I remember several times taking a 06:00 FLT to MKE from MSP, that was going on to Miami, that was a 747. It was funny about 100 people on that big 747, and it seemed, like the plane went-up and then just came started coming down. Take Care Stefan

I got one good picture of N1031V - with radar - Clipper Donald McKay parked in the United Airlines area near those two old curved hangars. In the early 60s we used to see some of the Meatball painted aircraft flying overhead stripped of Pan American markings but with Israeli registrations painted on. My material on Lee Mansdorf and Piston Engine Airliner Production List (October 2002) indicate that Pan Am and Northwest's aircraft were out of service by the end of 1959. The OAG may have been in error as to the actual aircraft type in service. I used to see errors like that in the OAGs we had at the Center.
