During a recent flight in South America (Sao Paulo Brazil to Lima Peru) using the calclassic VARIG Constellation 1049G my route took me across LAGO TITICACA. This lake, which is located between the borders of Peru and Bolivia, is quite impressive not only in area, but what is most impressive, is it's elevation. Located in a high Andian Mountain plateau it is 12,500 ft above sea level. That would make it the highest elevation lake in the world I believe. Below a few images of that part of my flight. Cruising at FL240.
