While looking through some scenery lists I came across one for Chase AFB at Avsim. Not realising it was already part of the Texas 1962 scenery package I installed it. That is when I found I had two editions of the scenery sitting almost next to each other.
In the Texas scenery Chase is coded KNIR and the Avsim scenery is coded KNCF but in the scenery list only KNIR is showing despite the other scenery being installed. As an exercise I removed the KNIR scenery by renaming the .bgl files so I only had the KNCF scenery installed. In the scenery list KNIR is no longer showing but KNCF still is still not showing. Personally I have a preference for the KNCF scenery and am wondering how I can get it to show in the scenery list. Is it possible that the scenery is listed somewhere but under a different designation.
If I can't get it to show in the listing I'll delete it and return the KNIR scenery.
Thanks John

Put a copy of the KNCF AFCAD in scenery/world/scenery? I recall Tom saying that controls the listing. That way KJFK shows as Idlewild, and I get Heathrow to show as London Airport.

Hi Bill Thank you for your quick reply. Went through the scenery list but it seems there isn't an AFCAD file there.

John,
It's been a while since Juan, me, and the others put the package out for Texas. If you're talking about NAS Chase Field by Stinstrom, then the file you are looking for is called: KNCF_ADE9_JS.BGL and located in the scenery folder.
Some things, however:
1. Make sure that the Chase scenery is ABOVE the Texas scenery, otherwise there will be some things that will bleed over since the VTPX and other exclusion files will not have priority.
2. Most of the scenery contains custom features for the land around it. Because of this it may not "fit" with our stuff. As a result you would have to make sure that NAS Chase is fully above our scenery in priority (i.e. installed later OR better said, above our scenery in the window that opens when you install it).
3. Some designers have many objects and "physical" exclusions in the ADE9 file, so it's generally not a good idea to open it in AFCAD (or even ADE) since you may lose any of the exclusions for physical objects that may be in the ADE9 file. Also, even if you do manage to open the ADE file in ADE9, please make sure that you add the exclusion rectangle again (yellow when selected; red/pink when not selected - at least on my setup if I remember right) BEFORE exporting it again to BGL since I haven't figured out a way to have these when you open up the BGL for building or AFCAD editing.
4. Since the scenery came out AFTER our project and was meant to represent the 1980's (according to the readme I just read on AVSIM), then it may not be fully compatible. You could try to "swap out" some of our stuff for the ones in the JS one, but remember that it has custom ground so the items won't necessarity line up with our ground scenery. Same if you try to put our layout on his.
I never got them to work together either when it came out a few years ago. Now that I remember, his Midway scenery made my set up crash when I tried to go there. I never got that one to work either.
I've been working on a second form of income, so I haven't looked at any of my FS stuff in a few weeks. Unfortunately, it may be a while.
Hope this was able to help you somewhat!

Hi Jorge Many thanks for your message and advice. Did all as suggested but KNCF still would not appear in the airport listing, so have reversed everything to have KNIR back in the list.
Again I have learned something new which is the wonderful thing about this site.

John, as a test I downloaded and installed the scenery and KNCF showed up just fine in the airport listing. I do not have other Texas sceneries installed at the moment, but John Stinstrom's Chase works as expected here. Perhaps it's worth another install on your system?

Hi Erik Thanks for your message. I have the Texas62 scenery installed along with some other single installs and I think that is what may be causing KNCF not to show in the listing. It is probably best that i leave things as they are before I really muck things up.
