Hi, Some weeks ago, I came across this two-part documentary. It's very detailed and well researched. It play's in another league than most documentaries. ***Only for Nerds*** For those, who aren't familiar with the Focke-Wulf company and want to know about, here is an introducing video: and here is the two-parted documentary about the Focke-Wulf FW-190 Part 1 Part 2 Cheers Wolfgang

P.S.
and I'm happy to say, that he plans a video about the FW-200, which is more in our territory, because it was designed as a airliner. I'm really curious about it.

Can't say why, but I never really warmed up to the Fw-190 in the old IL-2 sims, maybe due to the nasty tendency to snap roll at low speeds and high AoA. The Bf-109 was much more pleasant to fly.

Hi,
and you would not be satisfied with the "new" Il2 or DCS. Like other games from russian developers, there is a strong bias together or paired with a bad implementation of flight dynamics. They call themself simulator, but the truth is, they are only games with varying complexity of the simulated systems. Both games are based on the code from the old Maddox Il2 game from 2001 with many changes over the times.
I guess FS2020 will be a game changer in many fields, so many things had to be done and changed to keep up with Microsoft. Even if Microsoft "only" adapt the civil part of flying and will not satisfy the needs of miltary aviation simulation, there will be an proper impact to those. Change or die will be the motto and if you listen closely, you can hear the calls of despair from St. Petersburg and Moscow. The cards will get shuffled for the whole genre.....good for us.
Cheers Wolfgang

a) IL-2 1946 with mods is where it's at. All successor titles were just visual upgrades and even dumbed down in parts (AI, campaigns).
b) FS2020 does not deserve the "r" in "revolution". The last revolutionary flightsim was Flight Unlimited for its CFD-based aerodynamic model. FS2020 (and X-Plane) "just" uses blade element theory.
