The Hawker Hurricane, the fighter that won the Battle of Britain!
Oh, what's that you say? The Supermarine Spitfire was the British fighter that won the Battle of Britain? Well, no, that's not exactly true. Although the Spitfire was a far more sleek and sexy design and was faster than the Hurricane, the Spitfire was also a new aircraft for the RAF and there were far more Hurricanes in service during 1940 than there were Spitfires. According to records, for every two Luftwaffe aircraft shot down by Spitfires, three were shot down by Hurricanes. So even though the Spitfire is given the credit, mostly due to news reports at the time and the post-war movie industries, without the Hurricane, the Battle of Britain could have easily been lost, at least in the skies over Britain.

By the way, is that a chemical warfare agent detector I see near the leading edge of the wing root?
