In my thread about Kellet Autogyro member "w arbaby" wrote this: Hello Goldenrocket. I would love more period scenery throughout Africa. If you know of any, please inform! I have of late been interested in the Imperial Airways flights between London and Cape Town. I think it would be more suitable to create a new thread for answering to this subject.
Up to now I created some basic airfields for the Imperial East African route. They are all in a standard design. As shown several weeks ago I adapted the CalClassic scenery "Brussels Haren EBEH" included in "1960 Central Europe - Belgian Airports" package. I also added some airfields which doesn't exist in default FS9 like Cologne Butzweilerhof shown below or Vienna Aspern for instance. Anyway, the list of airfields to be backdated is quite long and will need some time to get the whole route. Bluegrassairlines.com gives a lot informations about the flights to South Africa (and Far East of course). Based on that I will try to create an AI traffic from London to Cape Town. As the normal flight took almost two weeks, I have to portion the flightplan in two or three legs and let flying the unused aircraft to a fake airport somewhere between. Bernard

Hello Bernard, thanks for the response. I will look forward to anything to contribute to this. As of now, Based on diary excerpts from a navigator at the end of WW2, I'm flying a Short Sunderland from Scotland to Zanzibar, SE Africa. Due to mechanical issues and layovers, the flight took almost a month to complete!
Thanks again Bernard, I'm checking out your scenery mentioned above, right...now.

Hi Warbaby, Meanwhile I did AI flightplans based on the Imperial Airways South Africa Route 1932 (London to Cape Town) published on Bluegrass Airlines site: www.bluegrassairlines.com/operations/imperial_airways/Imperial%20Airways%20-%20Africa.htmAs three different aircraft have been used for the whole trip, there are only three separate flightplans needed. Of course return flights are actually performed directly without any stopovers. I also created simple ADE for each stopover including grass or dirt runway and parking spots. Later I will add some objects like barrracks and vintage vehicules. Everywhere the same pattern. Bernard

I'm sorry Bernard but I can't locate the scenery mentioned above, nor where to look for the flights described. Where do I look?

Had a look at the Imperial Airways FS9 folder and saw that there is scenery for Australian flying boat bases from that era. Is it possible to install these separately? Just as an exercise I did the YBSP Brisbane River one (my home city) but it doesn't show in the scenery list. Can this be managed as it would be nice to have the bases through to Darwin?
Thanks John

Allen, I don't understand which scenery and flights do you mean exactly? Is Vienna Aspern scenery available somewhere? Vienna Aspern is nowerdays known as Wiener Neustadt West LOXN. An Afcad is available at FlightSim.com, but should be adapted. Had a look at the Imperial Airways FS9 folder and saw that there is scenery for Australian flying boat bases from that era. Interesting info on Flughafen Aspern.
I've driven by it several times and I never knew it was there. Seems to be abandoned at this point in time although Google Earth shows the field and old runway layout distinctly.
