There is some conflicting information. The L-1049G first flew on December 7 (or 17), 1954. The L-1049G-82 with DA-3 engines was added to the ATC on January 14, 1955. Northwest started service that same month (or the planes were delivered in January, but service started in July). Others say the NWA Connies were delivered and flown as L-1049E's until July, when they could be flown as Super G's.
Of course, the first Super Connies were the L-1049's, flown by TWA and Eastern. They were first in service on December 15, 1951.
Hope this helps,

Thanks, Tom. That is the answer I was looking for. Specifically, the TWA birds.

The TWA L-1049's first entered service in August, 1952. The TWA L-1049G's were first put in service in March, 1955.
Hope this helps,
