Always pleased with the job done by Tom and the CalClassic team.
I just found about a Travis scenery complementing the CalClassic timeframe, so looking forward to even busier skies.

A nice view of the international pier too with Pan Am, Lufthansa, and Japan parked there. I don’t think that happened anywhere else in the US in 1962.

HJG has very fine jets. Goes very well with the Calclassic props. I don't think JAL went to JFK err IDL back then?
Scale of 1:400....such a nice airport to see virtually and in scale model form. Afraid there is not much left of the old terminal today (I've walked the nooks and crannies that remain...so few). Nice to see the world of Calclassic in a slightly more tangible form. : )

I am always amazed how you managed to turn my SFO GMAX files into 3D reality! Looks great. And Japan only served LAX, SFO, and SEA back then. Lufthansa served SFO, ORD, DET (?), and IDL, along with Montreal. (All from my dim memory).

Takes a lot of time and effort to model an airport. This one looks great!

This does bring back memories! I was 9 years old in 1962 and flew on a Western Airlines 720B from Seattle to San Francisco. Pretty sure I chatted the ears off of my seatmate on that flight.

Thanks, everyone. I've recently allocated some space to have a dynamic 1:400 scale model of the airport - from 1927 to 2023 - including every terminal from then to now. It'll take a few years but well worth the effort. Always a special effort to stop by the 1957-1959-1962. In fact, 1962 was the last full year of Central Terminal being the main passenger terminal, with 1963 being the opening year of South Terminal (my latest focus). At the moment I am in a mid-60s-early 1970s phase with both Central and South Terminals, lots of pinwheel parking, and (somewhat empty) 747s. It's bittersweet to see the continuous change of SFO. I’m most grateful to have experienced walking through some of those old parts of the airport before they were demolished….and have checked out some of their replacements. For all those interested, the SFO model, representing the 60s-70s, will be on public display during the SFO Airline Show in March 2023. Feel free to stop on by and take a look in person: www.facebook.com/SFO-Airline-Memorabilia-Show-Sale-760878127265067/I’m planning a bit of a bigger setup which will include a few hangars and old Mills Field 1927 and 1937 terminals if all goes well.
