One of the most significant of all classic airports, Gander needs no introduction. John Hewson's invaluable photo albums are here:
Based upon them, and especially upon a Jeppesen chart of 1956, a new scenery is in preparation. The chart refers to construction work and this was presumably the terminal which was opened by Queen Elizabeth II in 1959. An overhead view shows this work in progress. Deadman's Pond is also visible, and although this is Ultimate Terrain Canada it leaves a little to be desired:
The two hangars which formed the civilian terminal before 1959 and which still survive, enabling their ground dimensions to be taken from Google Earth.
Near to the terminal were a hotel and restaurant:
Where passengers could relax while their aircraft were refuelled:
And work continued on the new terminal near to the wartime H Blocks:

Impressive Will look good for 707s if the buildings were same during use of 707s and DC-8s
You have not mentioned if your impressive scenery is for FS2004 or FSX???
Regards,
Aharon

It's for FS2004 and the airport had a new terminal in 1959, so it was different when the jets were there.

This is all coming together so beautifully. A great addition to the CalClassic Scenery Library.

Further updated screenshots. This is the most recent of many versions of the terminal hangar, by day and night: Skyways contained a restaurant and was only a short walk from the terminal. Much the most important single source in John Hewson's albums is a map of the airfield, clearly produced for passengers rather than aircrew, probably in the late 1940s. It should not be later than 1950, as it mentions American Overseas Airlines, which was absorbed by Pan Am in that year. This shows that the terminal hangar contained lounges, bars, rest rooms, a customs and immigration office and desks staffed by various airlines. Here are the Rest Rooms, and the Post Office is well advanced. All the major buildings in this scenery are custom built. Here is the oldest hangar of all, built pre-war, on the northern edge near the Canadian area, looking across to the hangars and H Block barracks built for the USAAF. The map mentioned above shows that the oldest hangar dealt with customs, though as the great majority of passengers were in transit these seem unlikely to have been very considerable. The Newfoundland Railway ran along the northern edge. It was single track and narrow gauge, and converted from steam engines to diesel c.1950. A Trans-Canada chart from 1950 kindly sent to me by Bill shows that the lines extended down to the USAAF H blocks, but perhaps were laid chiefly to facilitate their construction. There is a Wikipedia article on the Newfoundland Railway and quite a lot of information on You Tube. It was closed c.1990. Canadian H Blocks can be seen in the background.

This is great, thank you very much. My Flightsim.com account is still borked and whatever passes for support there seems unwilling or incapable of helping. Chris

Thanks, Ken.
Question - you include Ranges_NovaScotia.BGL in this package, but I already have CYQY_RangeStations.BGL in my Sydney Nova Scotia folder. What should I do?
Thanks again,
