DeltaDart and I have been working on some projects together, more in an upcoming post. This particular project started out just to add the F-102 Delta Daggers of the 146th FIS P.A. Air National Guard which flew the aircraft from 1960 into the mid 1970's (one of the longest ANG's to fly it) and went through several different paint schemes. Mike Pearsons paint was of the last paint scheme. DeltaDart offered to Paint the first version of the 1962 era, but it didn't stop there. We have taken it all the way back to 1955-57. KPIT is an interesting subject for us Cold War era fans. They not only hosted P.A. ANG but also USAF units during our ERA of 1955 to 62. This Traffic and Scenery enhancement is to the original KPIT 1962 scenery released by Tom Gibson. It is already a busy place with Civil traffic and even busier with USAF and ANG present. A wonderful place for AI watchers.
Here is a little look.
In 1955/57 the military side hosted the 42nd FIS Squadron of the Air Force flying the F-86D/L Sabre Dogs,
finally inactivated in Jan of 1958.
DeltaDart has painted both regular units and the squardron Leader's aircraft (stripes).
While over on the P.A. Air National Guard area, the 146th and 147th FIS of the P.A. ANG reside, flying the F-84F Thunderstreak from 1954 through 1957. Painted by DeltaDart though there is a little guess work as pictures were hard to come by.
At the end of 1957 the 42nd FIS (first pictures) was inactivated and all their F-86L's went to the P.A. 146th FIS and the F-84s went off to the scrap yard (both 146th and 147th are pictured here with other units as well)
Whereas the 147th inherited their F86L's at the beginning of 1958 from various other USAF squadrons who were converting to F-102s. By the time of our 1959 traffic both squadrons were painted identical with the Day Glow Orange scheme that many ANGs wore.
Now we step into our 1962 traffic were DeltaDart and I began this project. In 1960 the 147th FIS converted to the F-102 Delta Dagger with DeltaDart's custom paint of the 1962 paint scheme
Including the TF-102 side by side trainer version.
Meanwhile the 147th FIS converted in 1961 to the 147th Aeromedical Transport Squadron flying the C-119 Flying Boxcar and occupying the area where the former USAF 42d FIS resided.
Alert Hangars have also been added and are fully functional with traffic.
Release will be soon, just tidying up everything and checking it twice.
Al, DeltaDart
