Tom, Having seen Delta DC-7Bs at Montego Bay I am attempting to paint one. I can find no existing paint. I need the American Airlines base pack, is that correct? Ken

Delta DC-7s and DC-7Bs were painted almost identically and the DC-7 and DC-7B models use identical textures, so you can simply download the Delta DC-7 from this page: www.calclassic.com/dc7.htmAnd add the textures (only) to the American DC-7B Base Pack. If you can do a bit painting, the only changes were the lettering under the cockpit said GOLDEN CROWN DC-7B and the reg number was different (ex. N4882C), as was the fleet number at the top of the tail and on the nose gear doors (712 for N4882C). Hope this helps,

Many thanks, Tom, as always. I had, of course, looked for it on the wrong page, but Jim Campisi's paint is much better than anything I could have managed. The only minor glitch was not being able to find the font used on US civil registrations at the time, but Arial is fairly close. Other than that I added the interior textures and airstairs from the AA paint, without altering the interior because of being unsure about the colours. These screenshots have a little more shine on the bare metal because I don't use the stock env.map, but for my own purposes I shall probably increase the effect by altering the alphas slightly. You are, of course, welcome to have these for the site if you wish; no problem if not. Ken

Nice job Ken! I wouldn’t mind having them for myself if you can make them available, but these days I only host “my” repaints on my server. Jim might give you permission to upload them with co-authorship?

And with a revised alpha channel on the bare metal of the lower fuselage. They certainly were beautiful aircraft.

Hi all,
I now have the textures from Ken and they look great. If anyone is interested in them send me a PM including an email address and I will send them.
To send a PM click on my name to the left and click on the Send Message button at the upper right.
NOTE: I will not send them to anyone without a *PM and email address*.
NOTE: To keep the file size down all textures are NOT included. You can restore the rest of them by copying all the files in the texture.american folder and pasting them into the texture.delta folder. Choose DO NOT OVERWRITE (Skip, etc).
Hope this helps,

Here is the livery entry I used - replace fltsim.x with the next higher number in your aircraft.cfg file:
[fltsim.x] title=Douglas DC-7B Delta Airlines sim=dc7B model= panel= sound= texture=delta kb_checklists=dc7b_check kb_reference=dc7b_ref ui_manufacturer=Douglas ui_type=DC-7B ui_variation=Delta atc_heavy=0 atc_id=N6202B atc_airline=Delta atc_flight_number=427 description=The DC-7 allowed the inauguration of non-stop transcontinental service. Most large US airlines had DC-7's\s The DC-7's were eventually replaced by jets, and usually converted to or sold as freighters. prop_anim_ratio=0.9
