My tastes vary over time, and have recently landed on long distance over water flying. As a result of military simulators, I've become interested in Maritime Patrol/Reconnaissance/Anti-Submarine Warfare aircraft. I have a large collection of P-3 Orions (L-188), a P-8 Poseidon (B737), Lockheed Hudson ASW, PBY Catalina, Grumman Tracker, Short Sunderland, BAE Nimrod. I'd consider quite a number of these aircraft as propliners, with some being based in California. I'm curious to know of anybody else performs this type of simulation? And if they have any advice or experiences? Are there any quality FSX aircraft I'm missing out on?
Thanks and Happy Valentines Day!

In my FS9 Golden Wings I will occasionally fly patrols using a Hudson I, Whitley VII or Short Sunderland to search for the merchant ships at sea from the CalClassic World Shipping scenery. On occasion I have even used the George Diemer XB-15 to patrol the Caribbean and Panama Pacific coast. The fun, such as there is, comes from actually finding the shipping and swooping low enough to identify the ship models.

Almost ten years ago (!) I did this post here, showing Ice Patrol operating from NAS Argentia. But that was for FS9. Link

I fly a number of different military aircraft point to point and have some patrol types in my inventory, but I don't fly maritime patrols.

I knew a woman at my school whose husband flew S-3’s. We had some interesting conversations. And a friend in my model railroad club flew P-2 Neptunes out of Japan.

flew P-2 Neptunes out of Japan. Speaking of that plane, there is fine and high quality payware Neptune on sale for 50 percent off which translates into lousy 9 bucks at PC Aviator website. Regards, Aharon

Who can forget S-3 Viking??? The answer is me, that is who can forget the S-3 Viking. That I already have installed. And I realized this as soon as I posted the OP. It is a great suggestion, and I certainly need to fly it more. Thank you!

How about the Avro Shackleton (South Africa & Britain)? I would love one, if I could find one. I found this Canadair CP-107 Argus project that I understand has been paused due to lack of motivation by the author. canadairargus.blogspot.com/

I had once the Canadair CP-107 Argus, but lost it with a HD crash. That was in 2014! Bernard

The design took the Lincoln's centre wing and tail, Tudor outer wings and landing gear and a new wider and deeper fuselage, powered by four Rolls Royce Merlin engines. It was initially referred to during development as the Lincoln ASR.3.
