Here is the 4th in my series of USAF French airbases just released.
This scenery and traffic depict Toul AB as it was in the Mid 50s when it first became active to the early 60s. Like the sceneries before it, it comes with custom paints and Traffic for all 4 Calclassic years.
On 23 May 1955 the 465th Troop Carrier Wing which had been at Toul since 1953 (though the actual flying squadrons were based in Germany due to the incompleteness of the facilities at Toul), was relocated to Évreux-Fauville AB. With the departure of the C-119s, Toul was placed in a standby status. Budget cuts prevented any new USAF units from the United States to move to France.
On 17 July 1956, the 50th Fighter-Bomber Wing from Hahn AB Germany arrived at Toul AB Flying the F-86H Sabre represented in the 1956 traffic file (custom paints by DeltaDart). I store this traffic file in my 1955 folder.
During May 1957 the 50th saw the arrival of the first F-100D/F "Super Sabre". A total of 75 F-100's were received in both single (D), and two seat (F) models, 25 per squadron along with Two T-33's per squadron and several C47's and U6 Beavers (all but the F-100s painted by Deltadart), all represented in the 1957 traffic file.
In the 1959 traffic the 50th FBW is still flying the F-100's but will be forced to leave France in late 1959 due to France requiring all nuclear capable aircraft removed from France. However, our 1959 traffic begins to also represent RB and EB-66 Destroyers flying in for two-week rotations from RAF Alconbury, RAF Bruntingthorpe and RAF Chelveston in the United Kingdom along with the F-100's.
In late 1961 during the Berlin Crisis 110th Tactical Fighter Squadron flying F-84F thunderstreaks were deployed to Toul AB from Nov of 1961 to July of 1962 I have provided a version of the 1962 traffic that covers this period (1962 Early) along with a later version of 1962 covering the next phase, so your choice.
Our late version of 1962 traffic file represents the 42nd TRS with 12 B-66B offensive ECM aircraft, and 11 RB-66C ECM Reconnaissance aircraft, transferred from RAF Chelveston to Toul-Rosieres in the summer of 1962.
At the same time, the 19th TRS, flying RB-66B photo reconnaissance aircraft, also relocated from RAF Bruntingthorpe
to Toul. (All EB/RB-66 paints by Deltadart.)
This is represented by the 1962 Late traffic file. Toul AB continued with the RB/EB-66 Destroyers until around 1965 when the 26th TRW took over flying McDonnell RF-4C Phantom II.
