Working my way through the various turboprops I have installed in FS2004 (in connection with the "in progress" taxi modifications) I have reached the Convair 640. I have two models installed - one from an unidentified author but looks very much to me like a 580 in both shape and dynamics. The other seems to be a modification of the 340 by an author with a bit of a reputation for taking other people's work.
This set me wondering if there is a proper 640 model available, and if not why not? That isn't meant to sound rude and abrupt but nearly everything from that era seems to have been covered.
And then I wondered how many ever existed, and according to RZ Jet's web site there were only two. Were there that few? I think that having been introduced in 1965, they are slightly post-California Classic era but bang on the nose for me. But I think there must have been more than two, as Christian Page has released an AI model for which rather more than two repaints are available.
All thoughts welcome.

According to the book the Turboprop Airliner Production List there were 27 640’s. 9 for Hawaiian, 7 for Caribair, 4 for Air Algeria, 2 for Martin’s Air Charter, 1 for SATA, and 4 as General Dynamics demonstrators that went to Pacific Western.
I didn’t make one because no one ever asked for it. 😎

Thanks, Tom, more existed than I knew of but still of minority interest compared with other aircraft. Please don't think I was asking for anything other than information :)
Of the three I had on my setup here, one turned out to be a Lufthansa 440, converted to 640 after they sold it, and the other a Trans Air Link 580. That just leaves a sole Caribair 640. I can't trace any others at the usual download sites, although an AI Air Algerie 640 exists. For now I will exclude it from my taxi behaviour work.
Best regards,
John

John,
I have a few zips from a while back from a gentleman by the name of Carlos. I'm not sure if that's the "... author with a bit of a reputation ...", but send me a PM and I'll see about sending the zips if you want to look them over.
If I remember correctly, it didn't have a VC, but there were various "eye candy" animations such as the lower cowl opening for "maintenance" modes, etc.
To be honest, I can't remember how it flew since it's been a while since I took it off for one reason or another.
Off to work!

Yes, that's the gentleman I was referring to. Thanks for the offer but I have access to most of his files if I want them. I'm trying to resist. :)
Best regards,
John
