Im working on a bare metal Eastern Air Lines L-1049C as used in NY-MIA-SJU runs. I am having trouble however getting a clear understanding of the window configuration, which is different from the G Model. Anybody got resources? Second, the airplane has text on it toward the rear on the EAL feather cheat line. I cant figure out what that says either. Both would be appreciated! Eric

Hi Eric,
I think it says "Eastern Airlines The Great Silver Fleet". I have also been playing with this version, and using a magnifying glass and it still is hard to read with my eyes. It also looks like the Falcon logo on the nose is slightly different, has Eastern written into it and the feathers accented more. From what I gather, the window placement seems like the "H", though there is a window in the rear all the way back in the area just before where the stripes (feathered area) begins. I just recently read that someone stated that the pax door was slightlt further back, but I could be wrong. On the right forward side, 3 windows instead of the usual 5 in the "G". This scheme is one that I find hard to find good pictures, leaving only what's published in the Connie books.

Thanks Frank. Source pics are hard to come by but have gotten a few by email that are very helpful. The turkey buzzard version of the eastern logo was a good catch. I fixed that already.

Eric, the white writing inside the feather says: Eastern Airlines The Great Silver Fleet (slightly slanted)

Thanks guys. I got all this fixed now! What I did find is that there were apparently numerous deviations from the standard on this scheme. Not large, but the details were different on a lot of planes.

TWA didn't have 1049C's, right? Only 1049's, 1049G's, and 1049H's.

Hi Eric,
this is looking great. I don't want to be nitpicking, but I think the registration number should be on the forward wheel well doors ( the small ones on the side) and the area behind the engines was probably black, not gray. Have a look on the pics I sent you yesterday. The grayish area on the pic Manfred pointed out was probably due to reflection. It can be seen qquite clearly on one of the pics I sent you earlier.
Best regards, Volker

Volker, I am not finished with the paint just yet, so I have added the numbers to the wheel well doors, etc.

Wow, really beautiful job, Eric. I haven't seen any EAL Connies with stripes on the props though - is there a pic of that?
Thanks,
