Hi Tom, I've just downloaded the revised VC, and taken a quick look. The revisions are a definite improvement. Regarding the notepad and reverse lever etc, I'm running FS9 in 4 x 3, at a resolution of 1600 X 1200, on a 24 inch widescreen, and the triangular area you mention is visible, and blank so you could move these to the centre or right side of this area with no problem. I think this would probably suit most users, as the second prop reverse is now too far right for us 4 x 3 users. Those are nice pics of the Convair cockpit. Just goes to show how there's no right or wrong layout . Thanks for your continued work on this. It's great. Cheers, Mike.

Hi, OK, I think we have a release candidate, unless someone finds something wrong with this version. Hopefully everyone is pretty happy with this iteration. Here is the new default view from a standard 4:3 monitor. You can see I've moved the stuff that used to be at the right of the AP to the far left (on a new panel): If you don't want the duplicate autopilot, autofeather, and reverse gauges seen here you can add // to that gauge's line in the panel.cfg file to remove them (you can pick and choose which ones if desired). You will see the instructions in the gauge listing. If you use a widescreen monitor and change to the panel.cfg file in the Widescreen Monitors folder *and* change the active Eyepoint line in the aircraft.cfg file (as described in the readme file in the Widescreen Monitors folder), you will see this instead: And here's a view of the entire panel: BTW, I've now fixed the night lighting which wasn't changed in the previous upload: Finally, I've set up the side views now - try them out using the numpad keys with the num lock on. The beta package has been updated with these latest changes; anyone willing to try it one more time? Let me know what you find,

Hi,
I have added a GPS icon to the release candidate. It is next to the Notepad click spot. If you don't have it email me (tgibson at sunstroke dot sdsu dot edu) and I can send you the modified panel.cfg files.
Thanks,

Hi Tom,
I've just installed from fresh the new installer from the front page of the thread and noticed a couple of things.
1 The Short nosed model doesn't have the new VC. 2 The Short nosed model doesn't have any textures on the #2 cowl. 3 the model that does have the VC and all textures is the model labeled "model"
Maybe I installed this wrong, do I have to install the base package first?

Hi,
Only the radar model has the new VC; once it is final I will create the other versions.
Hope this helps,

Ok, here comes my harsh and critical review.
I like it, I like it a whole lot and I'd like to see the new cockpit available on all the piston engined Convairliners!
Once the DC-7's are done, I'd really like to see the CV-580 receive the Tom Gibson Extreme Makeover - Cockpit Edition treatment.

Yes, like Mr Stansdds, I'd like to add yet more critical comment - It's brilliant. Looking forward to the release version. Thanks, Tom, for your continued work on my favourite twin. Cheers, Mike

Is it just me, or does this baby take a ton of throttle just to taxi? I'm speaking of the 340, most of my Convair time has been in the 240 and just a little bit in the 440.

I took the beta cockpit for a spin this afternoon, it worked great until I landed the nose gear a bit too hard. Yeah, I expect that's going to be an expensive fix, both to the aircraft and the runway.

Yep, the Convairs had a weak nose strut...

I plan on starting to propagate the VC into the other Convair models on Sunday, so you folks have today and tomorrow to get the bugs out. After that, you will probably have to wait quite a while for any changes...
Thanks,
