Nice pics - love all the extra details. A very historic event, to be sure. And the 114 is certainly fun to fly. Glad to help with your scenario.

Great screenshots of the big turboprop and the impressive-looking VIP/security area at Idlewild. The scenario shown on the screenshot with the police barriers etc. might make a fun additional bgl (if it's in the form of a single bgl) to put into or take out of the scenery folder depending on anticipated VIP arrivals. Was Nikita embarrassed about climbing down a ladder, or proud that his Tupolev was higher than any air stairs that the capitalists had? This is mentioned along with a nice still shot of the Tupolev at Andrews AFB near the beginning of a short film from Smithsonian Magazine on the 1959 visit: www.youtube.com/watch?v=z0Ob1wAsbioOn a non-propliner note (apology offered), Khrushchev flew from San Francisco to Des Moines on a MATS 707. Iowa State University's archives have generously posted many hours of the local TV coverage. There's a lot of video of the apron at Des Moines municipal airport. At about 4:40 of video 1, part 2, the "giant" 707 comes into view on its upwind leg and the announcer treats us at some length to his impressions of watching the landings of the two 707s that arrived earlier with the press corps. It must have been the first time he had seen jet transport aircraft land, and he's particularly struck by the energetic touchdown and accompanying tire smoke. Khrushchev's 707 finally lands and the announcer talks us through the landing, which he doesn't regard as particularly adroit. The arrival sequence begins at around 4:42: www.youtube.com/watch?v=e72g5DuG0T4All the best, William Brand

Nice shots and nice plane, I'll surely try it. Is there any back dated Russian airport available?

Hi,
No backdated Russian airports that I know of, other than a couple of backdated AFCAD files in the AI Traffic AFCAD zip package (UUEE and UWPP).

Wasn't there some story about the original TU-114 that Krushchev was supposed to use had a rear stair....but he refused to use it because it appeared to him he was coming out of the as***le of the airplane? Hence the problem with the airstairs.
BTW love this plane. Reminds me I need to port it over to FSX.

I would like to backdate a fs2002 scenery of UUEE to 1964, but cannot find any pics of the tarmac from that time. The problem is the UFO (today terminal 1b I think, domestic) and the parkings around it.

Finding the layout of Russian airports in that era is indeed very difficult. I haven't found any, and use the few pictures available as my guide...

Hi, To my knowledge, it's never been updated to FSX. Here's the designers website. I'd keep Fs9 installed, if only to fly these: samdimdesign.free.fr/

Very nice bird, is she FSX compatible as well? And have a VC? The Tu-114 works in FSX sp2, but all internal textures must be converted to DDS format. Not only is there a VC, but most of the large interior is also modeled. A camera utility is needed if you want to roam the cabin. Also the exterior is not as bright as it is in FS9. In my opinion, this was a stunning FS achievement by the Samdim team.
