G'day Ray
I recieved your PM and found it most interesting but have no way to contact you. Are you saying that there was no replacement for the Tacoma Narrows bridge after that nasty incident we have all seen a million times on t.v.? I use the scenery ktiw(1)zip by Brian Voight for 2004 from flightsim.com.

There is definitely a bridge over the Tacoma Narrows....not positive if it is in the exact same spot but fairly sure. Just drove over it a few weeks ago.

From somebody who lives just down I-5 from Tacoma....... Actually they are on the second replacement version of that bridge, The latest incarnation of that bridge opened just 2 1/2 years ago in July 2007. The original replacement was completed in early 1950. As Tom always says: "Hope This Helps"

Hi Trev, Sorry to give you the wrong impression regarding the Tacoma Narrows Bridge. As noted by qxtoolman, there are currently two Tacoma Narrows Bridges (side by side)--this allows for separate East-West traffic flow across the narrows. The new bridge is also a toll bridge to help pay for the cost of its construction. I believe there was a scenery add-on of the second bridge for FS09 a year or so ago. I had it on a previous install of FS09 but not on my current installation. I too had scenery add-ons for both Bremerton National (PWT) as well as Tacoma Industrial (TIW) on my previous install of FS09 to make them more realistic than the default ones. Regarding the original Tacoma Narrows bridge--it collapsed I believe in the mid to late 1930's due to high winds and faulty structural design--that is why it was named "Galloping Gurdy" (sp?). I am not sure of this--I believe the original bridge was further north on the narrows inlet from the two current spans. Trev-My e-mail is raymengel@msn.com or you can send me a "pm" via this site. Signing off as Tom and others do: Hope this Helps Ray Mengel Spokane Valley, WA

G'day all Thanks for all the info on the Tacoma narrows bridge. I think that this is a condition caused by the totally engrossing hobby of flight simming, when you are half a world away and trying to imagine what something you have never seen looks like, the images on the screen become very convincing. I should know better as Microsoft have taken away the whole of the Mount Lofty Ranges that form a backdrop to the city of Adelaide, here at home. But on the other hand, what could be more fun than an ILS approach into Vancouver through blinding snow when here it is is 105 deg. (40c) and the Galahas are flying backwards to keep the dust out of their eyes ?.
Thanks again Trev (vhbob)
