Hi all,
Here's another flight I did today on my new computer. It's military again, but this time it's a "prop"er classic plane.
My flight starts at De Kooy (EHKD) in the Netherlands, a Royal Netherlands Navy base. My plane is a TC-45J Expeditor, one of six delivered to the Netherlands as part of military assistance.
Having flown some urgently needed parts to De Kooy (near Den Helder, up in the north of the Netherlands), we're returning to Valkenburg. Meteo has warned us for fog and low cloud on the way back, but so far things don't look too bad.
Indeed, the sun is shining, and it seems a perfect day to be out and flying...
... until we hit Alkmaar, that is. All of a sudden visibility drops, and the clouds roll in. As we pass Amsterdam and approach Valkenburg, visibility is particularly bad.
Luckily we're being guided in. The tower clears us for landing, but just when we're about to touch down, they yell at us to overshoot!
Unknown to us, a P2V was in the circuit, and was approaching us from behind. Puzzled as to why the tower cleared us in the first place, I publish my missed approach, and position myself for a second approach. (note the ever changing weather conditions - I hate it when 'Real Weather' isn't being consistent)
With two Neptunes in a circuit, something tells me this could be a while before we're on the ground - luckily we've got some reserves in our tanks...
(Just to keep the story short: it eventually took three attempts before I finally got the Twin Beech on the ground, with two approaches foiled by those Neptunes. The weather didn't get any better either...)
