Hi there,
I have done a very long flight yesterday with the SuperG, the story of it might be like this:
"After the scheduled flight from Hamburg to Chicago we were made a trip to Los Angeles to help out for another Lufthansa airplane which was break down. In LA we get the order flying some health personnels to Bolivia. They should help there fighting against an epidemic.
Normally we should made a stop in Panama City on the way to La Paz, but due to good weather conditions the Crew was deceding to try a non stop flight - with Panama City as an option only."
The "story" so fare...this flight was a thrill. Calculating the fuel, leaning and resetting MAP, calculating again, then running 1 hour in time accelaration, calculating again, resetting...but it was working: 1475 NM in 16 hours and 55 minutes (real time ca. 5 hours).
Last but not least there are two things to say: 1st I was using modern GPS for that flight to keep the shortest way, and 2nd there was a constant tail wind most times (not cheated by me!). But my goal was to tease out a mostly long range because this thrills me. ;D
Here are some pictures and details from the flight:
Date: June 8, 1958
Flight: Lufthansa LH-815
Schedule: -
Frequency: -
Departure: Los Angeles (KLAX) at 1156 local (1856 GMT)
Arrival: La Paz (SLLP) at 0751 local (1151 GMT)
Stops: Non-stop
Range: 4175 nm
Duration: 16:55
Fuel used: 43751 pd
Payload/TOW: 5300/131815 pd
Boarding in LA
Ready for Take Off
Lift Off
Climbing over Long Beach
Reaching 19.000 ft
South-West of Panama, still 1564 NM to go
Pure romance...
Sun rise over the Peru highlands
Passing the Titicaca lake
On final to the Runway 10
Clearence for taxi to the parking position
Engine shut down after 16:55 hours
Parked. Time for a beer...
Greetings
Haddock
