The other week, I downloaded some scenery for the Azores, and then found some retro Aeropostal scenery for the Canaries which provided a good excuse to play with George Diemer's S43.
I can only say that those pax who "stayed with ship" got down safely
I enjoyed it, I hope you do.

I was too high when I first went visual so I treated the pax to a trip round the island, while I sussed out the approach for the harbour.
This is just a nice pic, but it shows where the problems started. In a couple of minutes I will be directly opposite the airfield, on the other side of the island. I have failed to realise the distance-to-run is only about 18nm. Should be about 5500ft already.
I have finally started descent, and am just about to round the cape and head back to the airport. I am actually aiming for the harbour.
The airport is beside the far promontory just below the sea horizon. At this point my height is quite reasonable for a modern jet descending at -700ft/min.
The errors are starting to accumulate. @ 2miles/min with 12 miles to go I have six minutes to lose 4000ft. I really should be 1200-1500ft lower.
It's getting very marginal even for the harbour. I should have had some flap out long before this, but I was going too fast because I had not started the descent where I should have.
From here, you can see the rate-of-descent, or calculate it from the distances.
looking quite respectable, now...
My pax know better than to complain - this lot from an earlier flight were very lucky; I was actually trying to drop them in the Nile ;D
