FAA has approved flight activities for the restored EAL DC-7B in Miami. This link to the Historical Flight Foundation www.historicalflightfoundation.com/has lots of photos and recent video clips of start, engine runs and high speed taxi. The paint job is incredible and the engine flames are the real thing. Enjoy Hy

Wow! The FAA actually did something that makes sense I wonder how much warning we'll get on a first flight date? Al

Absolutely amazing. Airplane looks brand new! I see where she will fly but then eventually go to permanent static display. That would be sad to see the old girl get to fly again in her new original colors only to sit again. Hopefully some place inside a hangar.

Wow! The FAA actually did something that makes sense I wonder how much warning we'll get on a first flight date? Al Al, here is the tentative operational sked. Jesse Appearance Schedule Come and visit! The Eastern DC-7B is open to visitors for walk-throughs and photos by appointment only at this time, and a $10 donation per person is requested. We expect that the first passenger flight will take place by June 1st, 2010 with the members of the Eastern Air lines family. After the initial flight, it will be available to one and all, on a first come, first served basis. We anticipate posting a reservation system in the near future. As of today, March 26, 2010, the following events will take place with the airplane: We will conduct about 20 hours of shakedown flying in the south Florida area for the next 2-6 weeks. We expect the airplane to begin revenue flying within the next 60 days, or around June 1st, 2010. The first “official” flight will consist of a passenger manifest of mostly ex-Eastern employees who will be able to relive this piece of history. At this time it is planned to be covered by national television. At the conclusion of the first passenger flight, the airplane will offer rides several times during the week out of the Opa-locka airport. The projected cost will be $300.00 for a one hour experience of flight. In addition, we will have post cards, prints, coasters, T-shirts, stickers, and luggage tags available to purchase. These items are also available to purchase online. You will enter through a personnel gate located just off the right wing of the airplane. Please park in the center parking lot available at Miami Executive Aviation. Contact Roger Jarman for details. By email: roger@historicalflightfoundation.com Or at: info@hffshop.com By Phone: (305) 883-2012 Fax: (305) 883-2072 (Phones are currently being routed to Atlantic-Models, Inc. Ask for Roger or Betsy Jarman.)

This bird has been uploaded to Avsim.com. Should be available on the next library update.
