This one is a puzzler. Have not had this happen before. When I hit the Y key to go into the slew mode, the aircraft and the scenery spin crazily and I have no control over slewing the plane to where I want it. Has anyone else experienced this, and if so do you have a solution other than a complete reinstall of fs9?

Hi,
First we have to know if you use the yoke/pedals or the keyboard when in slew mode.
If the former, you will need to recalibrate your yoke or rudder pedals (whichever axis your plane spins in) until it is truly at 0 when centered. You can also try expanding your null zone slightly in FS. But see below first.
If the latter (keyboard only), go to Options/Controls/Assignments/Joystick Axes/Slew Mode button and delete the axes found there. MAKE SURE YOU PRESSED THE SLEW MODE BUTTON! Usually deleting the rudder axis is enough. This still allows you to use your yoke in slew mode, but not the pedals.
Hope this helps,

Yoke and Rudder Tom. This popped up shortly after I did a setup using FSUIPC. I'm using the registered version. I'll delete the FSUIPC.dll and then do a new recalibration of the yoke and rudder. Wish me luck. Thanks. It would appear to be the rudder. When I hit the Q key to gain alt and the F2 to stop, it seems to work even though the bird is spinning around in circles.

I have had this problem for years. I just hit the space bar on the keyboard and it stops spinning, then I use the keyboard number pad to move the plane around or whatever. What I hate is when sometimes you hit Y, do what you have to do, then the plane RACES off and crashes. This happens with almost all Project OpenSky aircraft. Not sure why that is.

Hi Eric,
If FS thinks the plane is off the ground (even just a little bit) when you go back to normal mode (from slew), FS will make the plane "fly". I always press F1 before going back to be sure I'm firmly on the ground.
If this still doesn't work, then the static value in the contact points section of the aircraft.cfg file is not right - you will often see the plane slightly up in the air in slew mode, even after pressing F1. If so, that static value needs to be edited to keep the wheels on the ground in slew mode.
Hope this helps,

Hi Jesse,
don't delete the FSUIPC.dll ...simply recalibrate in Axis Calibrations and make sure that when you release all controls none flutter or deflect in any direction. That should take care of it.
As long as the contact points of the airplane are correct after slewing I always hit the A key to set the airplane on the ground before hitting Y to come out of slew. This places the airplane on the ground.
But a few bad apples still exist that may bounce or take off even then.

Thanks, Stefan. I followed Tom's suggestion and the airplane is now stable when I go into the slew mode. No more spinning and hopping around.
