While browsing through some old photographs, I came across this early picture of TUL when the terminal building was still new. The airport was established in 1929 and the terminal was finished in 1930. On the left is the old Spartan Aircraft school of aeronautics. It was later replaced with a larger brick facility to construct the Spartan Executive 7W airplane. This the field where I began my flight training in 1937. Jesse

While looking thru my album of old Tulsa photos, I came across this 1930 winter scene at TUL. Lots of new modern flying machines; considering this was only 27 years after the Wright brothers. The new terminal was under construction and you will note the 'control tower' on the roof of the old terminal....access via a ladder. Jesse ;D

Hi, I'm the Curator of the Tulsa Air and Space Museum & Planetarium. The photo of the Tulsa Municipal Terminal is one I have never seen before. It would be great to get a hi-res copy of it for the museum. I would also be interested in others that you may have. The aircraft factory was actually built south of Tulsa Municipal at Virgin Street and Sheridan Road. It was finished before the school in 1928.
Thanks,
Kim Jones

Kim, I'm sorry for the delay in getting back to you but I have been away from the computer for quite awhile due to a death in the family.
The chance of getting a hi res photo is probably pretty slim. I have had these for so long that I doubt if one even exists today.
My Aunt worked for Spartan for many years before retiring and I used to love going out to the old field as a boy. I took my first ride as a birthday present in 1935 in an old Spartan Executive....
