The shape and size of the center pedestal is why I commented - the Convairs have a "football" there.
Best wishes on your surgery!

Inspection time for Sears D-18 N5292C. Tom - After checking around I agree with you that the previous cockpit picture was taken in a DC-3 (probably N34113), not in the Sears Convair. Thanks for the catch.

Tales of the "Pacific Coaster" (Sears Roebuck West Coast DC-3 N49952) - No. 5 Flight over Klamath Falls, Oregon, with some new equipment. Circa 1950.

Finally found a relatively good (although a little grainy) color photo of the Chicago-based Sears DC-3 N34113. She's at Midway Airport, facing the Sears hangar at the east end of the South Ramp. Circa 1960.

Sears DC-3 N34113 arriving at AiResearch, probably in Los Angeles. The Sears Aviation Division frequently used AiResearch for avionics and passenger cabin upgrades.

Thanks, Tom. I'm starting to run a little low on the current group of photos but I think I've still got a few left----time to check out some boxes of photos in the basement to see if I can find some more. In the meantime, here's another cartoon: Tales of the "Pacific Coaster" (Sears Roebuck DC-3 N49952) - No. 6

Good black-and-white shot of Sears DC-3 N34113. That's me in the doorway; my Dad is fourth from the right in the white shirt, facing the camera. Location unknown. Circa mid-1950's.

Page 1 of a two-page PR article from the November 1963 issue of a Sears Roebuck in-house publication. I've reduced the resolution to get closer to Forum standards, but I think it's legible enough. I'll provide Page 2 (three photos) shortly. I have a much larger and more informative 1953 article from another Sears in-house publication, but it's much too large for this Forum; I'll figure out a way to get it posted when I finish transferring it to Word.

Hi,
Thanks. You can always upload it to a site like Photobucket and then use the Image Link option to add it to a forum post.

Thanks, Tom----I'll give it a try when I have the article ready to go. In the meantime, here's the second page of the two-page article mentioned earlier (first page posted on 05/25/14). Just for the record, that's Cicero Ave. in the background of the top photo-----I had misidentified it as 63rd Street when I first posted the photo by itself on 06/06/13.

Side view from the DC-3 pilot's seat, back when the pilot could actually see that things were working fine. Probably Sears Roebuck DC-3 N34113.
