Agreed. Another of my favorite views from the air is anything with a DC-3 wing in the foreground. Again, probably N34113. Anyone know what mountain that is?

Tales of the "Pacific Coaster" (Sears Roebuck DC-3 N49952) - No. 7 Any available baling wire could come in handy for a pilot/mechanic administering a little emergency maintenance to a DC-3. "Paul" would be Paul Carabelli (see the photo posted 03/17/13----Vic Swanson on the left, Paul on the right).

LOL! Marysville and Vallejo are small towns in Northern California, BTW.

Welcome aboard for a basic DC-3 flying experience. Probably the Sears West Coast DC-3, the "Pacific Coaster", before that name was painted into the blue stripe forward of the entryway.

Inside the Sears Roebuck hangar, Midway Airport, Chicago, IL. Circa 1967. Convair 440 N9730 in center; DC-3 N34113 or N34116 off to the right; vintage Camaro in front.

That sure is a pretty blue & white 440. (Camaro is no slouch either!).

Tales of the "Pacific Coaster" (Sears Roebuck West Coast DC-3 N49952) - No. 8 The perspective of local Sears store management on Sears aviation: 1. Regional Sears executives scheduled to arrive to inspect local Sears store operations -- fog good. 2. The same executives scheduled to leave town -- fog bad.

The view from the cockpit of Sears Roebuck & Co. Beechcraft D18 N5292C. Air conditioning was two small fans with soft rubber blades installed on either side of the instrument panel.

Hi Tom -- The destination is not indicated on the photo. This may be a horde of Sears California Zone executives getting ready to descend on some poor local Sears store manager----in Visalia, for example---- for an operations review----"We're here to help". Apparently no female Sears executives back then, but that doesn't mean the passenger list was always male only. Sometimes it was female only----I'm told Sears had a public relations deal with The Garden Club of America to provide some transportation to club events. Here's a group in front of the "Pacific Coaster"----not a flip-flop in sight. Pilots are Paul Carabelli (at the far left) and Vic Swanson. .
